Santa Clara approves $10 million prep work for 49ers stadium

On Tuesday, the Santa Clara City Council approved $10 million to prepare the proposed site for the constructionof a 49ers football stadium. According to San Jose Mercury News, the project will include prep work like building sidewalks, moving utilities, adding parking spaces and access roads and rerouting storm drains, electricity and water: everything needed to ready the site for a $1 billion state-of-the-art stadium.

According to the San Francisco Business Times, the city will have to borrow $6 million from the San Francisco 49ers just to cover the initial $10 million project.

We see that [the $10 million approval] as the beginning of the cycle of indebtedness," said Bailey (NFL) to SFGate.

The funding approved Monday will be used to move utilities, install sidewalks, add extra parking and other work needed before construction on the nearly $1 billion stadium can begin.

The endorsement after only a brief discussion allows officials to advertise the plans so an outside construction crew can begin working in January, making it the first significant capital investment in the stadium. The work includes moving utilities, installing sidewalks, adding extra parking and other work needed before construction on the stadium can begin.

49ers release LeGree and re-sign Matthews to practice squad
The 49ers have signed safety Mark LeGree to the practice squad and released wide receiver John Matthews, the team announced Tuesday.on NOV.15 .

LeGree, 22, was a teammate of 49ers rookie guard Daniel Kilgore at Appalachian State, where he was a three-time All-American.

LeGree continues his trip around the NFC West; he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round this year and promptly released after training camp. Then he signed with the Cardinals on Sept. 21 and was released Oct. 5

But two weeks later was released by the 49ers and re-signed wide receiver to John Matthews to the eight-player unit.

Matthews collected 46 catches, 1,049 yards and 13 touchdowns when played for coach Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego from 2005-06. He is one of four members of the practice squad who played for Harbaugh in college. He joins center Chase Beeler, tackle Derek Hall and tight end Konrad Reuland, who played for Harbaugh at Stanford.

San Francisco 49ers Wide receiver Braylon Edwards injuried his knee and shoulder, so that he has been limited in practice . the movement is necessary. Which indicated he might benefit from taking time off to fully heal in advance of the playoffs.

Matthews, obviously, gives the Niners another receiver to run routes in practice. Beyond Edwards, San Francisco’s available receivers include Michael Crabtree, Ted Ginn, Kyle Williams, Brett Swain and practice squadder Joe Hastings.

Re: Bills WR Stevie Johnson sorry for Getting Out of Hand

Bills WR Stevie Johnson sorry for Getting Out of Hand
For the second year in a row, Buffalo Bills wideout Stevie Johnson has ended up in the media spotlight for the wrong reasons. Yet again, moments of lighthearted honesty, whether on or off the field, seem to be too much for the pontiffs of pro sports to handle.

No sane fan of the sport should believe for a minute that Johnson's now infamous endzone antics during Sunday's Week 12 rematch against the New York Jetswas a slight against victims of terrorism. I shudder to write that last sentence, grimacing at the thought of even acknowledging Sione Pouha's insinuation.

Steve Johnson not only said that he regretted the touchdown dance that somehow included a pantomime of New York Jetswide receiver Plaxico Burress' self-inflicted gunshot and a plane crashing to the turf of MetLife Stadium in Buffalo's 28-24 loss to New York on Sunday, but also he sought out Burress to personally apologize.

Burress said the Buffalo Bills wide receiver left a voice message on his phone and sent him a text message to apologize.
Johnson was mocking the Jets' own TD celebration, period. The fact that media outlets across the country are carrying stories on Stevie's goofy endzone antics with headlines that even include the words "9/11" and "victims" is a truly sad state of affairs.
