gil's days of being the man are long gone - too much young talent in this league for that to happen. he does however still have a 4-5 year career left as a jason terry/jamal crawford type of player if he can get his shot back.

btw- anyone watching the warriors live practice? andris biedrins is noticeably bigger and running the floor well

naw knowing Gil he'll have a chip on his shoulder and sign with the heat for 1 year just to spite us lol then if Dwight leaves here he'll follow him...or if he resigns he might come back to Orlando...maybe

Gil cant resign with us this year

i know i said if Dwight resigns in the off-season then Gil might come back with him

^^Agree about Earl's defense. I particularly remember him frustrating Pierce and i like his potential. I didn't hear the gym stories though. I remember that type stuff being said about Bass, but hey that is awesome if Earl is working like that. He's hungry and I like that.

And his defense on Dirk

So...... In the whole 400 minutes he played in ORL what impressed you guys again?

Can't speak for everyone else but for me personally what impressed me was his Versatility being able to defend bigger 3's and smaller 4's....His potential has shades of a middle class josh smith...Nice size, Athletic, Can defend and block shots....But the biggest thing is his work ethic it was said that it was legendary....stories of him sleeping in the gym last season..literally...Everyone always says he is the first one in the gym and the last one to leave...someone that committed to getting better always has a place on a team[/quote]

Liggins needs to be our lockdown defender for 1's and 2's... earl needs to be it for 3's and 4's.

This shortened season above all others, we're going to need versatility and young athleticism. I think Earl can be very, very helpful.

+ f'n 1 ! Dude has the length and versatility. All I saw from him when he was on the floor was straight hustle. Rebounded well, defended well - two traits this team is lacking. We should try to get him back, but we really do need to try and unload our guards for some bigs..

^ the only problem with lggins and clark on the floor, is that our offense will be very stagnant.. we would have to use run n gun style offense to create points when those 2 are on the floor at the same time jmo

Earl looks in great shape, and he's probably another 10lbs shy from being a legit beast at the 4... if he can keep his quickness he will be something special.

I really hope we can find a way to keep him, but there might be a logjam at power forward with baby, anderson, and now harper and orton potentially.

I view Harper more as a backup Small Forward.
Smart / Micic / D. Wright
Wiggins / Exum / J. Adams
Parker / K. Anderson / Mcdermott
Randle / Vonleh / Stokes
Embiid / Nurkic/ Tavares

we're probably waiting to use the MLE before we sign Earl. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anyone left to use it on.

But there are two things bugging me though....Where does Harper fit into all of this? He was practically considered an Allstar in the French league....And my second concern is STAN VAN PHUCKING GUNDY...I wonder what is he going to do going forward with this team? Is he going to run the same ole predictable robotic offense we've been running for the past 3 years? Is he going to limit our talent by having the young guys ride the pine for a year to "Learn" the "System"....Is he going to keep everyone not named Dwight in fear of being yanked if they actually freestyle instead of sticking to the script that is Stan's offense?

A lot of questions...Answers anyone?

I thought I read after we lost to the hawks he took some of the blame and said he was going to change the system up a bit on the offensive side? include more cuts or something. Any one else remember reading this or was it just me?

I think it would be useful in situations when you need to stop a team like the heat from getting on a roll... liggins really just needs the corner 3 to be an effective offensive player for us.

a hypothetical unit of dwight, baby, clark, liggins, and wth, lets say duhon all on the floor together would certainly cool things down for a team that's getting to hot. Obviously Stan would never put that exact unit out on the floor but you get the idea, its really nice to have options.

I really hope we bring Earl back. While trying to contend, we still need a nice balance of size, youth, athleticism, defense, potential, etc. And Clark meets all that.
