Re: 2011-12 UEFA Europa League
He's too inconsistent and unpredictable. He would score a wonder goal one game, and do absolutely nothing for the next month. I guess you could say the same thing about Defoe (minus the wonder part), but at least he works hard even when he's not playing well.

Re: 2011-12 UEFA Europa League
If Pav got the same chances Defoe got & Crouch got last season I think he would have developed a more consistent game. He works hard for Russia so he's not a slacker and he is better on the ball than Defoe who does nothing but shoot when he gets the ball no matter how far it is.
Playing with VdV requires time to develop that understanding as well so unless Harry plans to start him for a good stretch he cannot complain much and one injury to Adebayor could pretty much be the difference between 4th place fight and 6th place.

Re: 2011-12 UEFA Europa League
Besiktas v Stoke City
Europa League Group E
Inonu Stadium
Wednesday 14th December
Kick Off 20.00 Local Time (18.00 GMT)
General Information
Istanbul is one of the largest cities in Europe and indeed the world with a population of between 12 and 19 million people.
It was one of the three European Capitals of Culture in 2010 and is making great strides towards becoming an international tourism centre.
The city is bounded on the north and the south by two seas, the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara respectively.
The western half of the city lies in Europe while the eastern half is situated in Asia, with the Bosphorus Strait flowing in between.
As the Asian city closest to Europe and the European city closes to Asia, Istanbul is a leading port with age-old trade routes through the Bosphorus.
The weather in this region of Turkey is chilly and quite wet at this time of the year, average daytime temperatures being 10 degrees Celsius and 5 degrees Celsius at night.
Only a few days during the winter months have snowfall and freezing temperatures.
The currency is New Turkish lira and the current exchange rate is:
1 GBP = 2.9 Turkish Lira
1 Euro = 2.47 Turkish Lira
1 Dollar = 1.85 Turkish Lira
Throughout its history, Istanbul has maintained its position at the heart of the economy, generating 46% of the national exports and being responsible for 40% of the country's total imports.
Passports and Visas
Supporters travelling to Turkey will need to have a 90-day visa on arrival at the airport of border crossing which costs £10.00. These are available at the border marked VIZE.
Passports should be valid for six months.
European Health Insurance Cards are not valid in Turkey, so travel insurance is essential, even if you are staying for only one night.
Supporters need to carry photographic ID at all times, although it is acceptable to use a photocopy of your passport and leave the original in a safe place.
Anyone losing their passport will need to report the loss to the local police and apply to the British Consulate General on the next working day for an Emergency Travel Document to return to the United Kingdom.
The Inonu Stadium
City supporters will be housed in the normal vistors' section - Misafir Taraftar - of the 32,145 capacity Inonu Stadium to the east side nearest to the Bosphorus, the strait which forms part of the boundary between Europe and Asia.
The stadium, in which football was first played in 1947, is uncovered at both ends, one of which is where the travelling fans will be located. Supporters are advised that the average temperatures at this time of the year will be quite cool.
Renowned for its incredible atmosphere, where 132 decibels were recorded for a Champions League match against Liverpool four years ago, the Inonu Stadium did undergo renovation 10 years ago and plans are now in place to build a new ground.
The present stadium has the approval of UEFA, but City supporters need to be aware of the facilities which they will find at this Europa League tie.
For instance, the seats would be classified as 'restricted view' at English stadiums, while the refreshment and toilet facilities are limited.
Supporter Information
Visiting fans enter the Inonu Stadium via Gates 66 and 67 after ascending a staircase in single file to reach the two entrance turnstiles.
Two searches will be carried out, the first by Police before ascending the staircase and then the other one by Private Security Stewards before being allowed to enter the stadium via one of two bar-coded ticket turnstiles.
City fans will be allowed to take flags/banners inside the stadium provided they are not racist or political, or supported by sticks and poles.
Approximately 2,000 Police Officers and 400 Private Security Stewards will be on duty in and around the Inonu Stadium for this match and supporters found to be under the influence of alcohol or in possession of flares will be arrested.
Coins cannot be taken into the stadium and, if found, they will have to be placed in Red Crescent Collecting Boxes outside the turnstiles, while smoking is not permitted inside the stadium.
There is CCTV coverage at the stadium, both inside and outside, while the public address system inside the ground will carry message in English.
As is normally the case with European matches away from home, visiting supporters will be held back for approximately 20 minutes after the final whistle.
The Club have advised supporters that they should respect the Turkish flag, culture and customs during their visit to Istanbul for the game.
As with any other city, fans should also beware of pickpockets and bag snatchers at airports, around the town centre and when using public transport. Only carry what you need, leave spare cash and valuables in hotel safety deposits.
Supporters are also advised that if travelling by taxi anywhere they should check that the meter is running before starting the journey.

Tru dat. By the way, the plans for the new stadium are stalled at the moment.

I don't think too many Stoke fans will be travelling to Turkey. I believe they are playing their second team.

I just don't understand what kind of joy do they get for drinking till they get so drunk and don't remember anything and do all stupid stuff to people in another country? You go to another country to support your team damn guy, don't drink that much and go to the match tomorrow and use your voice for your team as much as you can. I mean, to me, I drink maybe 2-3 beers before the match and when i get into the stadium, i look at the lineups, formation etc. But these people, I am sure, don't remember anything about the match..
Also, these behaviors are against some countries' tradition. That's why whenever English supporters come to Istanbul, they are beaten up by Turks. If you touch my flag and harrass girls on the street, your punishment will be brutal my friend..
