If I ran the Hawks

If I ran the Hawks

Trade
Hornets Receive: Al Horford, Jeff Teague and Zaza Pachulia
Hawks Receive: Chris Paul (if he will pick up the 2012-2013 season)

Why for Hornets
You get a proven young all star big signed to a long term contract plus a good PG prospect and a back up center. It is the best offer they will receive for Paul.

Why for Hawks
You get the best PG in the game.

Sign a few warm bodies to man the center position, and play out the 2011-2012 season with Paul, Joe and Josh. Try and trade Marvin for and expiring (I don’t think it can be done).

2012
Amnesty Joe Johnson – there will be a lot of teams with cap space in 2012 maybe someone will pick up 10-12 million of his contract.

Offer Howard the max. With his buddy Josh under contract and CP3 we will be a pretty attractive destination.

If it works in 2012-2013 season you will have your own big 2.75 (I don’t count Smooth as a full 1 but he is right up there with Bosh, Chandler, Noah or Garnett that complete the other “big three line ups”)

If it doesn’t work and Paul won’t resign in 2013 trade him for young guys and picks. Do the same with Smooth. Blowing it all up is better to me than spending the next 8 years as the 7-8 best team in the east. Not good enough to do anything, not bad enough to win the draft lottery. It would be the Nique years all over. It is a Star league if you can’t get them start over and draft them.

maybe amnesty Joe Johnson earlier, tank and draft Davis or Lamb or Sullinger or Barnes, etc. get the Bird rights on Paul and then offer max to Dwight.

Thank u, I've been saying for a long time to get CP3 at either the expense of Horford or Smith. But why waste those guys on only 2 years of Paul? The only flaws I see are: first get a long term deal from paul, second: Trade Josh unless he also signs an extension he probably will seeing that we're commited to winning by bringing in Paul. That way there won't be any what if's and we won't have to blow up, we'll contend for years to come. And finally Dwight has stated that he'll only sign an extension with the Magic, Lakers, Mavs, or Nets.

This franchise is some pathetic that even the home town guys like Dwight don't want to play in ATL.
