Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
Good night of fights all around...that was fun. Cotto was smarter and his stamina seemed better too, maybe he's found a trainer in Pedro Diaz. Rodriguez/Wolak and Murray/Rios were one sided but they were still damn good to watch. I did miss the Moreno/Darchinyan fight as my focus was on the PPV broadcast but I did catch Mares/Agbeko in time on the replay. I thought the right winner won but those scores seemed a bit wide. Sounds like Moreno was quite dominant in his U.S. television debut.

Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
WTF is wrong with HBO? Why after the fight were we watching a 3 minute rundown of CompuStrike while Cotto was (apparently) standing eye-balling Margarito's corner and/or trying to insist that his people stop mocking them? With all this build-up regarding the personal nature of the fight, who gives a **** about how many jabs were landed to the left lower obliques? There's intense **** human drama. We missed it all.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

I am sure they are going to redo the broadcast when they replay the fight with different angles and cameras. The producer of the PPV **** up pretty bad.

Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
Hey ive got a question,
I was just watching ali v forman fight on espn classics for about the 100th time and iv always wondered, Forman was only given to 8 and the ref stopped the fight. When the count is at about 7.5 seconds forman jumps straight up.
Has anyone else ever wondered this or is it a stupid question and is there a reason he only counted to 8?
Ali probably still would have won but still...

Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
Erik Morales/Danny Garcia and James Kirkland/Carlos Molina set for January 28th in Houston on HBO's Boxing After Dark
Marcos Maidana/Devon Alexander and Adrien Broner/Eloy Perez will fight on February 25th in St. Louis on HBO.
Khan-Peterson and Mitchell-Ibragimov on HBO tomorrow night from the nation's capital, Washington, D.C. I like Khan to take a decision even though he's the road fighter. He's simply better than Peterson, who I think has good skills but not nearly enough to handle Khan. Heavyweight Seth Mitchell makes his HBO debut, which he should win by KO. No way is he ready for a Klitschko brother, probably never but he'll likely get thrown in there at some point.
Also, from the Phillipines, Giovani Segura will fight Brian Viloria for a 112 lb. belt. I think this should be a pretty good fight but I see Segura overpowering Viloria in the end.

Damn, if Khan wasn't deducted those two points, he would've had a unanimous decision and now he's lost by split.

Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
No complaints on the decision from me. I had it a close Khan victory but could've seen it go Peterson's way. Yes, the points deductions were controversial but Khan was warned and did it repeatedly. Actually, the ref did screw up on the KD in round 1...Peterson slipped. Either way, it was a great fight and hope to see a rematch. Lamont's performance, coupled with the fact that Rios and Guerrero are moving up, still makes this division quite good..even with Alexander and Maidana's exit.
EDIT: Quick update....Giovani Segura was knocked out by Brian Viloria in the 8th round in the Phillipines. Even though he was the challenger, Segura was a heavy favorite in this fight and the Ring Magazine's 9th ranked fighter in the world pound-for-pound. 2 big upsets in 1 night.

What a travesty...
Peterson did better than expected...but no way he was winning that fight...
Ref was just disgraceful....worst ref I've ever seen

I still have not seen Cotto/Margarito 2, didn't buy the PPV. Usually you can see the fight a few weeks later on HBO or Showtime. Anybody know if that still happens ?

I still have no seen the fight but the ref did a **** job for all intents. Khan didn't do himself any favors by looking so poorly and he can forget about fighting Mayweather now.

Viloria is a bipolar fighter... looks like **** in one fight and then looks like prime rib the other. If they have a rematch I see Segura KO'ing him.

Yeah I don't care.... and I love boxing. No one saw the first fight... HBO nor Showtime will touch it so the fight isn't going to be made despite whatever ABC belt says. The ring belt is what is important and that belongs to Hopkins.

Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
HBO would put it on WCB. I think they would need to put an entertaining style matchup on the undercard though. They only put it on PPV because they blew their budget but otherwise, that fight would have definitely been on HBO.
Tomorrow is Ward-Froch in Atlantic City. It is the Super Six final and for the ring title at 168. I like Ward to win by UD, I just think he's more skilled than Froch. The winner of this fight will probably be fighter of the year.
