I don't think Crawford minds coming off the bench... the whole 'lets be real, he'd start here' thing doesn't really make me think otherwise... Unless of course certain people are traded, which doesn't seem likely.

I bet MDA would much rather have him as power off the bench, especially when he's rotating out Melo or Stat..

I can see Crawford more interested in getting recognition as 6th man again than starting.

If Crawford accepts Knicks' offer he'll be a fan favorite just for his sacrifice financially wise.

just playing devils advocate hear and I would welcome a return of jamal for 2.5 mil a year. However don't you think it would be more mise to sign purp to the same contract? He plays 3 and 4 two positions we currently have no backup at (im not counting jeffries).

It would also take away minutes from Shumpert which im not thilled with. Unless we are considering crawford to come off the bench and handle the ball and bibby leaves the rotation shumpert at the backup 2 and then fields shifts to the 3 with the second unit?

His chucking will convince u otherwise. Yes 2.5 million is a bargain for him but it doesn't make him a good basketball player he still sucks and we will get pissed a lot about him.

yeah. a couple of us had the same thought process. who do we have on the bench ? jeffries, jordan, jorts and guards. are jordan and jorts even gonna play ? if jamal is here, i see a lot of going small in our future.

http://www.iamagm.com/news/2011/12/13/knicks.still.talking.shawne.williams.and.maurice.evans.jamal.crawford.signing.not

New York has several options as they decide how to spend the $2.5 million exception. They have reached out to Jamal Crawford, Maurice Evans and Shawne Williams in recent days.. .... The only way Crawford can return to New York is by signing for $2.5 million, which is significantly less than what other teams have offered. Crawford played with Knicks’ assistant general manager Allan Houston and has been coached by Mike D’Antoni and Mike Woodson in the past. Sources close to Crawford say it’s unlikely he’ll sign for the room exception.

Absolutely agree. People are impatient (and who can blame them we've been bad for forever), but Crawford is a quintessential 'act now, pick up the pieces later' move. A team with as little depth as we have cannot waste its exceptions on one-and-done players. Unless it's really going to put us over the top this year (it's not), I don't see the point.

I just think Purp is a perfect fit for this team. You can pencil him in for 15-20 minutes a night as the back 3/4. And we know he can slot right in a start if melo/stat miss anytime. He can defense and spreads the floor nicely. DOn't get me wrong Jamal is a big time guy off the bench but if we have confidence shumpert can do that maybe it would be best to get Purp and sure up our wing positions backup

Blazers need to go after big men rather then guards it would be stupid move for blazers to do that.

I agree with this! At the end of the day for us to really be successful our youngin's are going to have to step up big time (TD, fields, and Shumpert) signing a guy like crawford will just stunt there growth and really backfire in my opinion.

Big Purp provides much more value to this team i believe

What Crawford brings > Purple at any position you want him in

Rookies will get there time if they deserve it, Crawford or not. Lets not get ahead of ourselves.
