Amnesty Raja Bell?

Post#1 » by Reckless » Tue Dec 13, 2011 8:29 pm

Can we stand 2 more seasons of Raja Bell. They say your shooting is the last to go and his shooting has gone. He's worthless to us now, except for the entertainment value we get from his over the top flops... Don't know why we don't amnesty him.

The Jazz only get to amnesty one guy for the length of the CBA. Why use it now on a 2-year contract, when it's not going to help us be competitive anyway? I'd rather save it for when it could really help us.

It's not worth it...... He's not getting paid that much.......

If I understand correctly, however, you can only amnesty a contract signed under the previous CBA..... You cannot amnesty any contracts signed under the new CBA......

You can only amnesty contracts that were on the books prior to lockout. So we basically have Memo, Raja, and Big Al on contracts that could be worth using it on down the road. However the amnesty still requires you to pay the guy, it just doesn't count towards the cap.

I don't get why everyone is so hard on the guy. Look at his situation. Missed an entire season after injuring his shooting hand. I admit I was greatly disappointed in Raja, but I don't think the guy has given up or anything. Let's give him a shot this season, and if he can't cut then sit back and watch him retire. I feel for the guy. Signed onto a team that was supposed to be far better than it was.

I would still rather have Raja on the floor over CJ.
I think Raja just had a bad year. Looking for a better year this year.
He will always be a favorite of mine for punking Kobe.

If the jazz arent over the cap or have no roster spots for someone they want theres no reason to blow tge one shot at amnesty. They can take a shot on Josh Howard if they keep it in the pocket.

Wise if they don't use on raja, but we must find way kick him from jazz. He worst player ever saw. I see one game and he play 35 min and only has 1 rebound and5 fouls in stint. I ask....what is this!!!! We must raise hands to koc to kick pervert raja from team. Please say it's true!

I think Raja can still be useful in spots. He admits that his down year was due to not being able to work on his shot due to his shooting wrist injury. But he plans to fix that this year now that the wrist injury is behind him. He will need to prove it but don't see a problem with him being around--especially if the Jazz can land Josh Howard to increase competition there.

Next year we will have some capspace to sign a free agent or two, if we use it it would be then (on Raja) in order to clear enough space for a max-type player. We'll have just under $15 million in cap space without amnesty, but if we let Raja go we'll have $18 million. No use using it if we don't need it, and if Raja and/or Miles can play well it would help this team a lot.
