Short-term it sucks.
Long-term I'm glad we didn't overpay.
I'd like to think that if we really wanted him that badly we could have gotten him, and he took the money to stay home in Denver....and we wisely didn't overpay.
That's obviously just hopeful speculation though. (This line is for the trolls who will inevitably arrive)

ZOMGzzzz noezz! The skyz is fallin'ed'ed!
We got this don't worry.
I'm not even 100% we'll land Dwight, but we'll pull something big off.

Re: We lost out on Nene
Dwight & Deron or rebuild. I'm happy with both of those scenarios.
Dwight will come to the Nets to play with Deron. Deron will stay with the Nets to play with Dwight. Winning this season is way lower down on their list reasons to sign, somewhere above having Beyonce sitting courtside at games.

I was going to explain why this doesn't make a big difference, but decided it's not worth it because the same Nets fans are (a) not going to read it (b) still think being swept in the first round as an eight-seed is a good thing.

Realistically the earliest the Knicks exit the playoffs is the second round. Things remaining the way they are I see them beating everyone in the east except for the Bulls and Heat. And they probably have a decent shot at drawing within striking distance of those teams depending on who they add.

could be a blessing in disguise. Could be that the nets are going to strike out of every free agent same as last season. They waited and waited for melo only to lose out and miss an out on everyone else. Howard is not dwill in this situation he is melo. The nets were lucky to get dwill after that circus with melo. Hopefully they learned lessons. If they don't bring in howard we are screwed

Knicks ceiling is a 4 seed this year, I could see as low as 6xth or 7th.
They are not that good.
