Forget RFA, Pacers will not target any

Larry Bird said it's Pacers owner Herb Simon's policy not to go after restricted free agents ... that's out of his respect for other owners.

Very interesting. Seems like a competitive disadvantage but maybe teams won't go after our RFA out of respect? I doubt it. It is a honorable team policy though.

I think you made a very good point. After so many seasons of top-five picks Sterling proves that any person can eventually get it right. His downfall usually happens right about now. When it's time to actually build a team based off of a salary-cap, or as it used to be with Sterling, salary-minimum, this is when he usually blows it. It's pretty basic when everyone is under rookie deals, hopefully he gets it right.

If Gordon is traded to the Hornets, than all bets are off. I think that assures us his consideration in 2012.

This seems kind of pointless. Isn't the fact that they're restricted already a bit of deference to their current owner. If all the owners played the game this way then the RFA year would basically come down to "take this offer or accept a one year deal, the end."

I don't like it. I don't want to be the nice guy of the league. They don't win. Honestly, I loved the team pre-brawl, even though they were a bunch of knuckleheads, bottom line was, they won. I just feel teams will walk all over Larry for this, and also, I don't think it's in Larry's character to do something like, since he's always been known as the biggest trash talker on the court. Why not as a GM?

I would S&T for Stuckey if his contract was like, 3 years/15 mil. nothing more.

yeah we'd better f-ing go after Gordon. Problem is, if he signs an offer with us in summer 2012, NOH can just match - that's the danger of the RFA. If he wants out of NOH (why would he want that, just an ownerless team that's unable to make trades without league interference, fun) he should take the QO and then be a UFA in 2013.
