Help! New to Fantasy Basketball

Post#1 » by koolvid » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:11 pm

Joined Yahoo fantasy H2H 20 teams

It didn't go so well, I got Dwight Howard but wasn't able to get my goal for 2nd which was Josh smith

My roster doesn't look so good so if anyone can help me who Ishould trade for? pretty much every ranked fantasy player was picked (since it is 20 teams)

Dwight Howard - C
Paul Pierce - SG
David West - PF
Jason Terry - PG
John Salmons - SF
Caron Butler - SF
Gerald Henderson - SG
Anthony Randolph - PF
Mario Chalmers - PG
Eric Blendsoe - Util
Robin Lopez - Util

Please help on who I should trade, thanks in advance

is mehmet okur on FA? pick him up for robin lopez

trade butler, salmons for sleepers. take your pick: james johnson, chase budinger, etc. see my post in the sleepers thread.

doubt randolph/chalmers get anything of value. randolph's not so bad in a 20-teamer i suppose. think he totally sucks IRL but he's fantasy friendly if he ever gets minutes. chalmers is rly good in a 20-teamer with 3s/steals, potential for PT if he can ever improve

bledsoe's fine, hope he gets traded, hope you have IR.

Wait I'm a little confuse do I choose 5 players to start, or do all the players participate, we don't bench in my league so I'm confuse if I have to choose 5 starters or not

and what is IR? Sorry that I am new :(

check your league settings.

most leagues go by daily transactions. that means if d12 has a game on monday but doesnt play on tuesday, you are free to bench him on tuesday for someone else.

that is why in h2h leagues you want as much of your roster to have productive players. instantly productive players. in rotisserie you can only play 82 (or, this year, 66) games, max, in any active slot (benches aren't active slots). so the emphasis there is more on upside.

if your league doesnt have a bench then everyone you drafted counts as active? that is abnormal but not unheard of.

by IR i meant IL, which is the injured list. eric bledsoe is out for 4-6 weeks so if you don't have a slot to put injured players (they would have a red IL to their name) then he's worthless to you since you just mentioned your league doesnt have a bench
