18th I believe. The Lakers have one expiring tmrw.

I thought Von Wafer absorbed Gortat's TPE in the Bass/Davis trade?

Nah, that was Rashard's TPE. Gortat still left at 6,300,000 ish

I think it was the R. Lewis one.

Oh right-right, I completely forgot about the Washington trade. Thanks for correcting that.

This is the only leverage teams have to keep their FAs. Call their bluff by screwing with their money.
EXACTLY. Thing is before, teams were more on the hot seat in the summer. Because they were faced with the immediate situation that their player could leave and we are left with nothing. So the player goes to them saying, let's do a sign and trade, I'll scratch your back, if you scratch mine. Team has to give in.

Come summer, if the player is set on leaving, he has to give up his money. There's no way around it. Or he opts in to keep his Bird rights for another year. Or maybe he can sign with the other team for one year, and get a full max contract with bird rights and all. But that's a lot to risk I think. And it still costs him money. Come summer, HIS BEST MOVE IS TO STAY. No matter how much he wants out, once he's looking down the barrel of the gun, and see's how much money he will certainly lose if he leaves, I think it'll cool his trade demands down quite a bit.
You can't sign with a new team for a year and get full Bird rights....you need to have been with them for 3 years, or have gotten traded to them if you had Bird rights from a previous team. The problem the new CBA has done is it puts teams up against the wall if they have a superstar who isn't 100% guaranteeing to re-sign (Chris Paul, Dwight, Deron, etc). Because there's an incentive for the player to demand a trade at the beginning of his last year so he can get the Bird right max (5 yrs, max raises)....it's COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE of what the teams wanted. Now, almost NO superstar is going to ever extend with their current teams. Look at Deron...he even said, he is "90%" going to re-sign with NJ but he is still going to opt-out after this yr in order to not cost himself like $25+mil in guaranteed money. Well done negotiators....now you've totally screwed over ever team with a superstar. So the team now has to take an ENORMOUS risk of playing a game of Russian roulette with their player and seeing who calls whose bluff.....and seeing if they are willing to give up that extra guaranteed money to go elsewhere. That's a huge huge gamble, and most teams aren't willing to take that gamble. That's why you see all of these trades. Most of these superstars make enough money $10-$20mil a year in advertising on top of their salaries that they don't really care about a few % points in raises....they'd rather go play somewhere else.

I want dwight GONE at this point simply because this song and dance about "winning" is s**-. let's get bynum and gasol, flip gasol for our iggy or monta or j. smith and maybe a pick... collect some expirings or draft picks...

most importantly, orlando wants people who WANT to be here. forget an nba championship. Dwight is telling us to f** off so wait until after january since he will probably sandbag and our record will suck causing us to land a nice pick, and trade that whiny b****. we will move on.

Plus, if you call a player's bluff like that....and cost him a lot of money, he is NOT going to be happy. He won't get any more money by doing a sign-and-trade with you than he would just straight up signing with the other club (so teams with cap room like NJ or Dallas wouldn't have any incentive to send us assets, and the player will be pissed at his previous club, and since he won't get any more money by doing a sign-and-trade he won't want to help his club out). So dumb.

we ride it out for a few months, see if anything changes, if we cant improve and hes still complaining, trade him by the deadline if you can get a good offer, if not keep him, let him walk, we get that extra cap too..no reason to trade him now since we cant find a buyer

sheridanhoops Chris Sheridan
Because D.Demps Hornets would have won 38-40 games and made playoffs, putting fannies in seats in NOLA. Scola, Martin are damn good.

OMG God, that one took the cake  ... sorry... LAC's trade package > LAL/Hou
That's seriously unbelievable. I mean, what???? At absolute worst, Gordon and Martin are very similar, as are Kaman and Scola, but are both younger. Oh, and that's not even counting a near-guaranteed lottery pick and perhaps a top 3-5 pick in a STACKED draft. How are they even comparable?
Because Odom was tacked on.....right? How is everyone forgetting about him? 6th man of the year.....nonstop double-double guy on an already stacked team of the Lakers...
Odom is dang good. He's also 32. That New Orleans team wasn't going anywhere if the Laker trade had gone through. They were getting no players who they could legitimately build around and would have been decent enough to avoid getting a high draft pick. This trade gives them three players to build around. It's hands down a better deal for a rebuilding team.

Who the hell does this guy think he is, he cannot make the Magic trade Howard.
Smart / Micic / D. Wright
Wiggins / Exum / J. Adams
Parker / K. Anderson / Mcdermott
Randle / Vonleh / Stokes
Embiid / Nurkic/ Tavares

On Wednesday, a trade rumor on ESPN.com was nothing but a decoy stirred up by Howard's agent, according to Pingalore's sources. They confirm the so-called multi-team trade that would send Howard to New Jersey, and also involving Portland's Gerald Wallace coming to Orlando, was made up by Fegan.

IF it's true that Dwight really has completely and fully wanted out this whole time, then I'll be really disappointed in him. Not to mention this is just bad for the whole NBA. I'm guessing there is some truth to it, but it's not the whole truth.

Howard did not speak to the media Tuesday, sources say, because of the direction he was under from Fegan not to do so.

Local 6 Sports Director David Pingalore has learned through two sources that Dwight Howard's Californina-based agent, Dan Fegan, was at Amway Center Tuesday trying to get his client out of Orlando immediately.

The two sources do confirm that Howard wants out of Orlando -- and staying is not an option. Sources do confirm his agent continues to make that point each time he talks with Magic General Manager Otis Smith.

Hasn't Ping always been reporting Dwight wants out? I don't think I've ever heard this guy say anything positive at all. I wouldn't put it past him that he made this up. I think a lot of people look at him as a joke.

I don't buy what Ping is selling. I just don't think reporters like Woj and Berger are being handed bad sources while Ping is getting the truth, it is more than likely the opposite.

Ping is terrible.

The Lakers continue to be an option for Howard, however Pingalore's sources confirm that the Lakers' center, Andrew Bynum, may not be as attractive, because the Magic have learned Bynum's knees are not healty.

They just learned that? "Healty"?

There must be something big behind close doors for this to happen. I mean this isn't the same Dwight that used to look at the photo in his locker of Lakers beating them in the Finals...Never once thought Dwight would be a "quitter" it really sounds like he is bailing Orlando..

With that said we can't listen to the media, it's there job to make US feel like this..
