Any news on Michael Redd?

Post#1 » by IMMA EAT U » Thu Dec 15, 2011 5:25 am

What's up with Michael Redd? He's an unrestricted free agent and his best days are over, but I'm sure he can still shoot the ball like no other. I'm sure the HEAT are not in a hurry to use the amnesty on Mike Miller until the situation is right (for example if they were to come to terms with Dalembert), but Michael Redd would be the perfect guy to replace Miller, even though they already have Battier. I'm sure Redd will sign for the minimum because he earned a lot of money the last couple of seasons playing a handful of games. Have you guys heard anything on Redd? Do you think Miami should consider him?

Have heard no interest whatsoever. They sound set on Chalmers/Cole.

Yeah but if we amnesty cut Miller and use that money to sign a center, then the duo of Redd & Battier would replace Miller (defense and 3pts)

they've already said their not going to amnesty miller and keep him and let him prove him self this season. They'll amnesty him next offseason if he remains useless

If we amnestied Miller now, we wouldn't obtain any cap space to spend other then the minimum....

The reason pre-Battier that amnestying Miller would of done something because we would of been well clear of the luxury tax line you have to be under in the new rules of the CBA.

In the new CBA once you use the full MLE you're not allowed to go over a salary base of 74m for that season, so we didn't amnesty Miller and only signed Battier to the mini MLE. But now we can't do that because we've already used the partial MLE and we'd clearly go over the 74m cap.
