Someone has to fill our 85% cap space. I think knowing the Mavs can pick him up in free agency might make the Lakers give us a better bid.
Yet again, Gil's amnestied salary of $20 mil counts towards the 85% salary floor, so that isn't an issue.
What is this obsession with getting PICKS? What's the last good thing we did with a pick? Dwight and Meer 7 years ago? I mean cmon. You really think you're going to get a better talent with a pick or two than either Pau or Martin+Scola+(since you love them - Houston's PICK - which will be quite high since Houston is going to suck this year in the West, esp after this trade)??? RDV wants to win, and he wants to win NOW. Not to completely rebuild in 5-7 years, only to see whoever we land with our picks jetset to NYC or LA. I highly doubt this team is going to go into full-fledged rebuild mode.
Anyways, here is my proposed trade, and it nets us Houston's 1st round pick next summer as well, which should land us a nice young talent as it will probably be high (hell, I could see Houston getting a top 5 pick, they might become one of the worst teams in the league after the trade).
http://basketball.realgm.com/tradecheck ... de/5951355Now our lineup is:
Meer/Hughes
Martin/Jrich
Iggy/Jrich
Scola/BBD
Bynum/BBD
Bynum+Scola+Iggy+Martin with JRich coming off bench as our pure scorer and BBD as our glue-guy is sure better than what we have now in Dwight, Jrich, Hedo, BBD with JJ and Ryan coming off bench.
No?
