Hello,
I have been following this forum for a long time, but never posted until now. I really appreciate the regulars comments here and find it way smarter than the average forum posts. Anyways I was just wondering is the general vibe around collison that we do not look at him as the future at pg for us? I really have not seen any talk about him kind of like he isn't part of the plan. Thank you.

Re: No love for collison?
I think he is our future, but we're not sold enough on him to not listen to trades for him, especially w/ George Hill now on the team. As far as a piece of our future, he's not an untouchable one like Hibbert or Paul George. Also, DC has not really lived up to expectation, even though I'll admit it was probably a little high for a 2nd PG in his first year as a starter.

Re: No love for collison?
I think Collison is going to be a great pg and people are getting down on him a bit too soon. I agree with Starkiller that he's not untouchable, but I do think he is going to improve drastically this year under Vogel's system which is more suited to his game and with the addition of a pick and roll/pop player in West I expect Collison to completely flourish this year. I think he will avg 17 and 6 this year and fully entrench himself as the pg.
jnzook's favorite player depth chart:
Deron Williams/Kyrie Irving/George Hill
Paul George/Jeremy Lamb
LeBron James/Danny Granger/Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Dirk Nowitzki/David West
Roy Hibbert/DeMarcus Cousins

There is tentative support for him, because the holes in his game are apparent, but he has the tools to really be good.

I think everyone is just tempering the fandom with him. He is very well thought of on this forum, but I think everyone is just being cautious with his progression and covering all bases.

In no way have I jumped ship on him. He's a very talented point guard, as evidenced by his one year in New Orleans with an arguably less talented team around him. Now, he has a budding roster around him and once he got a coach in Indy who knew how to actually utilize him, unlike JOB, he started to flourish.
Plus, let's not forget, in his first 2 years in the league, he's had 4 coaches. That would be tough on any player, let alone a young one.

Re: No love for collison?
I think part of the problem is we had stars in our eyes from his rookie season in NOH, where their offense was very geared towards giving the PG tons of pnr opportunities and he racked up assists and scored a lot... and then he came here and regressed to the mean a bit.
I mean, he's nice, and I think he reminds me a lot of Travis Best, our old PG from the late 90s. But it's simply fact that there are TONS of amazingly talented young guards out there - PG especially. When you've got Derrick Rose, John Wall, Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, Steph Curry, Ricky Rubio, Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson, Brandon Jennings, Kyrie Irving....... Collison just doesn't seem so impressive.
We know there are tons of potential upgrades at the PG spot, like Rondo, so yeah, we're totally looking at those.
Collison needs to cut down on TOs and find his role in the offense. I think the addition of David West should have a very positive effect - West is a great PnR player, whereas Tyler was... not. This should easily add 2 assists per game to Collison's totals.
I think you're going to see a big year from him.

Tyler played great with Collison..... JOB was the problem, not Darren or Tyler.

Re: No love for collison?
Like someone said he had 4 different coaches. and when he came here this was such a different system with JOB. Now that he has the same coach, i think we will see good things. And i sure don't see him as Travis Best...
