Back-up Center Ideas
We have no backup center. Brian Cook is the guy closest to play center and that obviously is a joke.
As mkwest mentioned in a different thread we hsould have the 2,5mil exception to sign a player.
Here are the available FAs at Center who are not comlete scrubs:
Hilton Armstrong
Samuale Dalembert
Erick Dampier
Big Z Ilgauskas
Joel Pryzbilla
Etan Thomas
If we could get a guy like Dampier it would be the best. I doubt Dalembert would accept that kind of money. I'd like Ilgauskas and Pryzbilla as well.

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
Ultimate list of players star talent right there...
haha nah for real though, out of those guys, nobody really stands out cause I don't know too much about them all and what there good at.. i know Pryzbilla's alright, he's got size, but idk anyone else to add to the list?
Armstrong possibly, bit younger and active, would suit us better probably

I was watching the Clipperblog live discussion. They mentioned Fasenko, one of the Collins twins, Pryzbilla, and Etan Thomas.

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
The problem w/ Dalembert is that he is "crazy!" He had so many problems w/ the Canadian National Team & I can't see the Clips spending cash on a Whackbar.
I wish Kurt Thomas didn't sign in Portland, even at 37 that is one sweet player. Calm, confident & a world of experience.
Maybe some vet will call us?

Etan Thomas and Fanseko would be my picks. Ryan Hollins an option too

Fanseko is a hybrid of Fransisco Elson and Fesenko?

What about bringing in Ratliff for the minimum to teach Deandre a thing or two?

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
Jordan Hill is another name I'd look at. Didn't we get a $3.8 mil tpe in the Hornets trade (read that somewhere)? Ryan Hollins is a guy that would work well with CP3 as well imo.

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
Dalembert is looking to get a contract around 8-12 mil range. Even Eddy freakin Curry got $11mil!!
I'd like Dampier if he agrees to take pay cut, but Theo Rattliff is not a bad idea either.
I really wouldn't want Fesenko. He can maybe be the 3rd center or something. And no to Skinner as well.
I wish Schortsanitis was available. We have his rights after all.

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
You guys are forgetting about Troy Murphy. He is probably the best back up available that can be had for cheap. He can shoot and rebound

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
Alexis Ajinca
Hilton Armstrong
Jason Collins
Samuel Dalembert
Erick Dampier
Francisco Elson
Kyrylo Fesenko
Dan Gadzuric
Hamed Haddadi
Ryan Hollins
Zydrunas Ilgauskas
DJ Mbenga
Troy Murphy
Joel Przybilla
Theo Ratliff
Jason Smith
Etan Thomas
Pretty pathetic list outside of Dalembert.
Fasenko would give us a big body.
Haddadi may be the player I'm most interested in off of the list, but Ralph and Mike better learn how to pronounce Iran and leave the Borat jokes alone.
Is Przybilla going to play this season?

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
Pryzbilla is nice if he's actually planning on playing this season. But he's been out for a little while.
Lakers are looking at Murphy already, he's not bad, but I'm not convinced that he's a C, and his man to man and help defense aren't exciting even though he used to rebound and shooter well before last season.
Two minimum guys wouldn't be had. Haddadi doesn't seem mobile enough to fit to well on the team. Maybe a vet like Theo Ratliff and a guy like Ryan Hollins, or DJ Mbenge.

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
Maybe we can even convince Suns to trade us Frye or Lopez.

Re: Back-up Center Ideas
I actually forgot that the Suns got Gortat, but doesn't Frye start at PF for them? So Lopez is their main backup big, that's not happening. They'd probably trade that big guy they have that needs to loose weight, but I'm not personally interested.

Elson is solid. will lead by example, play D, use his fouls and stick open shots.
