I just want to see plenty of the young guys that won't get much time this year: Thomas, Honeycutt, and Hassan.

To clarify, Hayes - who recently signed 4 yrs, $21 million deal - has heart condition that needs to be checked more.

Re: 2011 Training Camp Thread
I sure hope Chuck Hayes will be ok. Watching the Kings Fan Fest open scrimmage online. Tyreke tweaked foot (wonderful sign), DeMarcus rolled ankle & shoulder, Hayes heart condition, and who knows about no Salmons. 4 of out 5 starters not playing. Geezus!

Re: 2011 Training Camp Thread
Took Jimmer awhile to get in the groove I think, but he ended up looking very good by the last 2 games. His defense is a little shaky, kinda slow to react on fast point guards like Thomas but not bad overall. The team looked a little sloppy, but thats to be somewhat expected after only 5-6 days in the system with no real "practice" yet. Garcia and Donte were a little hit n miss with jumpers, Thomas was great at driving and kicking and great in transition. Whiteside starting to look dwight howard-esque appearance-wise, a good sign. JT looked very good tonight and probably the best performer was Thornton... thank god we resigned him.

Marcus was killing it tonight, I'm glad baby buckets is back. Also, I hope Tyler Honeycutt gets some minutes, got a good feeling about this kid.

Re: 2011 Training Camp Thread
I really hope we can get out of that contract if it's something that going to make Hayes miss significant time (1/2 season or more).

Re: 2011 Training Camp Thread
Hahaha, you don't sign a guy for 4 years if your worried about him missing a 1/2 season, lets just hope it's precautionary and nothing serious.

Re: 2011 Training Camp Thread
My take on the open practice, as I was there watching the freebie.
Jimmer - started slow, but finished strong. The kid can score and had some nice passes. He did have one careless turnover, which netted a fast break opportunity. As the poster above stated, Jimmer was consistently beat off the dribble by Thomas. It was ugly on defense...
Thomas - Wow. This kid is good and I'm a believer. He's a spark plug and is quick and has crafty ball handling skills. He was getting to the basket at will and showed real good vision with his kick-out passes. I think he'll be a fan favorite. He has hops, too. I believe MT23 threw up an alley-oop to Whiteside and Thomas out jumped Whiteside to the ball and deflected the pass. He's fun to watch.
Honeycutt - He's real active on defense. He got crossed up on and schooled by MT23, but that's the only play that stood out to me where he got bested on defense. He showed a lot of athleticism and a few dunks that got cheers from the crowd. He's easily the best finisher on this team.
Whiteside - Uhggg...I really wanted to see some progress from Whiteside. He had back-to-back traveling violations called on him. He fumbled several balls down low. When he gets the ball down low, it seems he's too slow to react or make a move, and is quickly surrounded by defenders. He then attempted a few shots and was blocked, or too well defended to make it. He did have a nice baby hook that went in. He also played big and grabbed a few offensive rebounds and had an easy dunk because of it. I only saw one block shot. Overall, I felt he wasn't a factor on defense and was invisible for the most part...I'd like to hear others opinion on his performance.
Salmons - He got injured early on...looked like he was holding the back of his thigh...possible hammy injury or cramp?
Garcia - He made a few and missed a few. He was active on defense and had a nice score-saving block on Whiteside. I also notice he and Thomas got in a little bumping match, with Garcia ending it by shoving Thomas in the face with his hand. It stopped there, as a timeout was called...Coach Smart pulled Thomas a side from the huddle and spoke to him....anyone else see that?
Green - He was active on offense...missed a few close attempts. Nothing too impressive.
JT/Hickson - honestly, a pretty quiet night from these two...didn't see much out of them. They both missed a few uncontested JS.
MT3 - He was scoring as usual. He also had some nice strong defensive rebounds. I liked seeing that.

Duffy's firm also reps Chuck Hayes. Said all tests on Hayes have come back normal thus far.

Awesome news, the Kings are going to need the Wagon if tonight was any inclination.
