How to land Okafor in Miami? Suggestions?

Post#1 » by Grumpy Heat Fan » Fri Dec 16, 2011 4:30 am

I think the Hornets want to keep Kaman and his expiring contract and dump Okafor's big contract. 13mil per season I think.

This is what I came up with. A four team trade.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=7q7auq6

NOTE : Miami could also add Cash considerations and/or draft picks

1) Miami sends Joel Anthony to the Pistons in exchange for a TPE that is sent to the Hornets.

Joel Anthony is a young Center, defensive minded. He is athletic, and fast. He had a good run in the playoffs. The Pistons, meanwhile, don't really have anything worthwhile at Center for the long term. Joel Anthony's contract is only 3.6 mil per year. This would fit right in with the Pistons contract philosophies....

2) Miami sends Mike Miller to the Clippers in exchange for a TPE that is sent to the Hornets.

Basically, Miami is stacked at the Forward position. LeBron, Shane Battier, Mike Miller, James Jones, Haslem, Bosh, etc... meanwhile, the Clippers could use a good SG/SF hybrid off the bench, heck, you could even start Miller at SG ? Deadly 3 point shooter.... and a veteran presence could help this young team that is about to explode with Chris Paul.

The Clippers would be grabbing him for free, basically. They could use the depth and potential starter at SG.

In a heartbeat.

Question, if we were going to do that, trade 3 players away. Why not just sign and trade them for dalembert and send them to the kings? I would take sammy D over okafor....just me

I don't think that would work cause Dalembert is a free agent.

I'm willing to see how Miller turns out when he returns from the hernia, and if Joel can catch passes and at least make shot attempts, then we're fine at center. Honestly, he reminded me again of how good his help defense can be. It's a wall of hands in the paint when he starts. If he tries on offense, he can at least force opposing bigs to stay near him. PEACE.

We don't need Miller anymore.... Battier took his spot.

Fact is, we'd do this in a heartbeat, but no one's just gonna take Miller off our hands.

why not? or fine not all three players. Just miller and house...give them two shooters. Make sammy D take 7 mil instead of 13. Nobody is going to sign with the kings anywayz. Miller is a solid player and houes can shoot

u get what a sign and trade is? it means we trade miller and house or w/e to sacromento, they take their contract and we sign dalembert to whatever money we clear from our cap space

I'd do this.. but I am willing to see how Miller is this season. He is a good rebounder when he wants to be... and scrappy.

Him and Battier would be beastly together when healthy...

this looks like a good trade though lol. We don't even use Eddie, might as well.

When you say Joel Anthony is a young center, when did 29-30 become young?

Why? We already have a PF in Chris Bosh. Okafor isn't a legit Center. He's undersized even at PF. Miami should go after Chris Kaman, at least he's a legit center.

Okafor is listed as 6'10", but he's actually 6'9" just like David West. So what would be the point of getting a starting Center that is shorter than your starting PF?

We would give up to many players, but it wouldn't matter much since our weakest position is the C position. We would still have Battier to back up LeBron, but we wouldn't have any backup for Wade.

LOL. I ain't given up Pittman. He needs work but he is the Heat's future Center. Even if it's not this year, he will eventually be Center.

This one is actually fine, but because of value I don't think it'd work lol. But I'd do this trade

haha the NBA isn't going to do anything that will help the Heat. They don't even need to shed anymore salary I believe.

Return to Miami Heat
