Is the D-League really that bad that sending someone to get some playtime translates into near zero growth as a player? I tried watching their season opener, but it was damn near WNBA boring.

The problem with the D-League is that everyone is trying to get to the NBA, so the level of team play is awful. Every guy is out to get his and showcase himself.

And yet if you're a D-League caliber level of player, your only hope of sticking on an NBA squad is to do all the little things that a team player does.

watching the scrimmage

dexter pittman had some good putbacks and he was getting rebounds in the first half...

he still looks wide and out of shape but maybe that's just his body type...kinda like carmelo.

Yeah the D-League is bad. If a player stays there trying to grow, it's not going to happen. They'll learn some things, but you'll learn more if you are around players you'll see for a long time. Not going to like... summer school and then getting back out.

He needs PT thing season (Pittman). Even if it's 10 minutes, let him bang around with other benches Centers and whatnot. It's the only way he will learn. He had some really good putbacks and seems to be an effort player. But he looked fat out there. Which was weird since I thought he lost 100lbs. He must be more of a force than I thought o_O

I liked what I saw from Derrick Byars. Hope we keep him!
