^^ Thats prolly the best of the crop fa real. If that is the group of ballers, and the program is actually acting like a program. Then Canada should be right up there. Like that is a hoop factory worth marketing. I just unno if any of that will happen.

Were they resting Kabongo (New Mexico State) or is he in trouble?

He was suspended indefinitely for this:
ESPN

"He grabbed his crotch after he made the first, then the second one he did it again," said Felipe Truax, who had a front-row seat next to the Aggie bench.
"Yes," Truax added when asked if it was a distasteful move.
[Marvin] Menzies said he didn't notice the action as it unfolded.
"I'll look at the film and address it if that's the case," the head coach said.

Really? One game I could understand but anymore is rediculous.
I am dissappointed he did that though because I expect more from our players.

OT Khem Birch leaves Pittsburgh, on his way back to Canada
RT @DaveZarum: Whaaa?RT @Tsbiet BREAKING NEWS: A source has confirmed Khem Birch has left the Pittsburgh and is on way back to Canada.
not sure how credible this is or what it's about.
I assume it's not just for xmas break.

Birch transfer rumors are surfacing at Pitt
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsbu ... z1gi6g4lVjPitt men's basketball coach Jamie Dixon declined to comment late Thursday regarding Internet speculation that freshman Khem Birch, jewel of the Panthers' 2011 recruiting class, is contemplating transferring.
A university official said Birch is listed as a probable starter in Pitt's official game notes for Saturday's game against South Carolina State at Petersen Events Center but declined further comment.
Efforts to reach Birch were unsuccessful.
Several Panthers players' and national media outlets' posts on Twitter raised speculation that Birch is not satisfied with his playing time or how Dixon is using him. A tweet by a CBSSports.com reporter indicated Birch was considering transferring.
"Can't believe wat just happen," redshirt sophomore forward Talib Zanna tweeted.
"Wow..... To the news that's about to unfold," redshirt junior guard Tray Woodall wrote.
A five-star recruit from Notre Dame (Mass.) Prep, Birch was considered the jewel of Dixon's 2011 recruiting class. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound Birch has played in each of Pitt's 10 games and leads the team with 19 blocked shots and averages 4.4 points per game. He is only the second former McDonald's All-American to play for the Panthers under Dixon.
Birch was rumored to be wavering after signing with Pitt when then-assistant Pat Skerry, his primary recruiter, left for Towson State in April, but Birch eventually enrolled.
"Guess everybody aint built for tough coaching and competing for minutes," former Panthers standout Brad Wanamaker posted on Twitter.
Jermaine Dixon, another former Pitt standout, tweeted: "If he think some just going be giving to him cause of who he is than he went to wrong school.....not going happen under Coach Dixon."
If he were to transfer, Birch would be required to sit out the remainder of this season and the first semester of next season, under NCAA rules.
The Panthers, ranked 15th in the current Associated Press poll, are off to a 9-1 start for the ninth time in 10 seasons.

Corey Joesph/Kevin Pangos

Tristan Thompson/Nicholson/Anthony Bennet
Robert Sacre/Kelly Olynck
and i'm still leaving off other notables...
what kinda sucks/cool depending on how you look at it, is that our 1,2,3 possibly, all are related.
Potential players to choose from for the future national team. I expect more than half of these guys to be in the Olympics in Rio. Ridonkulous talent, sick:
PG: Kabongo, Pangos, Cojo, Cadougan, Brady Heslip, Laroche
SG: Rautins, Devoe Joseph, Christian Kabongo, Tyler Murray, Harouna Mutombo, Justin Edwards
SF: Kris Joesph, Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Wiltjer, Olu Ashuolu, Laurent Rivard, Melvin Ejim
PF: TT, Nicholson, Khem Birch, Anthony Bennett, Dwight Powell
C: Sacre, Olynyk, Bhullar, Bhullar
isn't there another Ashuolu as well? I guess Olu Famutimi, Levon Kendall and Jevohn Shepherd don't hold up to the new crop

Thanks. Nothing is official but it sounds like he is home-sick and almost left before the season even started. He apparently misses his GF and that is the biggest reason he wants to leave.

Olu Ashuolu is the good one. His brother was shot while he was playing at Duquesne.

they certainly are. as is denham brown and carl english. they were all just as highly rated, in all honesty higher rated, players in college and play high level european ball. certain posters who lean to the left and love leo simply prefer the future to the present and past is all. famutimi was oen of the highest rated canadian hig hschool prospects ever. kendall, english and denham brown all had draft hopes.

None of those guys were as high as the current crop, Famutimi was the highest at #20 for 2003. Bennett is #7 byr Rivals, #9 by Scout in his class, Wiggins #1. TT, Kabongo and Birch were top 5. None of the players that you mentioned were top 5 in their class, but the main reason that I didn't mention them s because we are talking about the future of Canadian hoops, not the past; plus Famutimi wasn't even on the team this year. By the time the Rio Olympics roll around, Kendall, English and Brown will be 35 or older.

I remember that Famutimi was top 10 in certain rankings when he entered Arkansas. But that was the only one who was very high in certain rankings.
That being said it does diminish your point. The quantity and quality of top prospects we have now entering the NCAA dwarfs what it has been in the past,

Does, or doesn't? And did you mean me or Matt? But regarding OF, yeah, he was a McDonalds All American and had a ton of potential. But when he tore his mcl, he was never the same explosive player that he was before the injury. Here's his write up from Scout:
Terrific athlete migrated to the U.S. from Canada where his legal guardian doubles as his AAU coach. High-flyer for the Michigan Hurricanes and plays the role Kelvin Torbert once occupied. Will get high on the glass for rebounds and finishes with strength and flair in his dunks. Will defend on the perimeter as well. Elite level talent in this class.

Ah, okay gotcha. Yeah, the future for Canadian hoops is absurd. I expect Canada to be top 5 in the world for the foreseeable future.

Birch is officially leaving Pittsburgh. I am disappointed for him and for us.

Pitt freshman Khem Birch has decided to leave the team, Pitt announced tonight. Birch, a 6-foot-9 freshman, was a McDonald's All-American and Jamie Dixon's highest rated recruit since taking over as Pitt's head coach in 2003.
"Khem has decided to leave the team for personal reasons," Dixon said in a statement. "We thank Khem for his contribution to our program over the last semester and wish him great success in the future."
