And every trade NOH would make will follow this, so it's young good players on good contracts, expiring contracts, or picks.
This.

We know NOH's motivations - to sell the team. We know what business people like - a clear payroll and young talent going forward. NOH may be willing to take more $$ this year, but they will not add payroll in future years. To them, any deal involving Kaman will not include Zaza going back to them unless we also take another salary > Zaza's next season. In all honesty, unless we decided to completely strip our draft picks going forward (or included Teague), then I'd imagine that Kaman is off the table for us. Not to say we could make a run at Okafor though...

If anything, I could see NOH thinking about something along the lines of Hinrich + Zaza for Okafor. We could build off that base if we wanted a few more assets, but remember that NOH would not want more $$ due in future years unless they're getting bribed with young talent. We could add Marvin for Jack into it so that we can save a few $$ in years 2 and 3, but NOH would still come out ahead overall since Okafor's contract is so large. Even then, I'd think they'd be a little hesitant since Marvin is a similar player to what Aminu projects to be...

Stern is not going to give away Okafor or Kaman for an expiring contract.

Stern wants draft picks or he will just let Okafor and Kaman's contract run out. Hornets don't have an owner, so Stern could careless about paying for two over priced centers.

Stern isn't the "owner" of NOH - the NBA is. As we saw with the Gilbert letter, NOH have 29 owners - not just 1. Stern is under the gun and has to sell NOH before the lotto or else he'll have to deal with a lot of angst when those ping pong balls pop out. If NOH wins the lotto (and they now have 2 picks to win with), then the conspiracy theorist will shout foul; if they don't get in the top 3, then the conspiracy theorist will still shout foul. Easier to get out from under the behemouth than deal with the repercussions. A business man would see the ability to remake the team immediately as attractive, so not having large $$ tied up in future salary (Okafor) would be attractive to NOH...
