Re: Should we pursue Andris Biedrins? (GS Wants Tyson Chandl

We are desperate for a a good big man but does Biedrins fit the bill? Remember, we'd go into the LT next year if we make this deal. We need to be certain. Personally, I don't see him as all that valuable.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

He had 3 pretty good years, but the last two have been pretty bad. If I was GM I'd be watching quite a bit of tape and asking around to determine a few things before making a move. #1) Can he stay healthy? The last 3 years his missed quite a bit of time. Got to know if it is chronic or not. #2) Is his drop off on court easily correctable? #3) Do I think he can be a defensive and rebounding force without fouling?

To be honest I've not seen GSW play enough to have a good feel for him. He looked like a break out stud 4 years ago and then he got lost in the shuffle of Don Nelson's mad science and never really come out of it. He might be a lost cause or he could be the 25 year big we need. I'd rather try to land Asik, Erden, or Gray and hope we can get what we need on the cheap. Biedrins is paid top dollar for his contributions and we need some bargain performers to get further.

I think Asik is light-years ahead of the other candidates. Forgive me for playing scout, but I really think he's going to be a solid Center in the NBA -- I mean a tough defending, strong rebounding shot-blocker who maybe scores every once in a while.

Since you can't amnesty someone after trade they need to find someone with cap room to take on Biedrins and then amnesty Charlie Bell to give them the cap room to full max Tyson Chandler. Let me get creative with the math.

I need to let the new rules sink in because I forgot about that when I created the thread.

He still could be bought out.

Beans had a dropoff on the court due to an injury and poor coaching. He is overpaid, but he only needs a change of scenery..

I’ll channel my dark side and say that this is the year the Hawks hit the skids. (And I realize we’re talking about one of just three teams, along with the Lakers and Celtics, to make the second round of the playoffs in each of the past three seasons.) They’ve operating on borrowed time with all of the subtle tweaks the franchise has made the past four years. But without Jamal Crawford (free agent) and a healthy Kirk Hinrich to start the season, the Hawks will start the season in neutral without making a splashy move during training camp. The fact is, they’ve done just about all they can with the current roster, all the while resisting the urge to make any significant changes to their core. This is the year that inactivity comes back to haunt them.

Note that Asik is already 25 and a half; while I think he'll be solid and productive, he's hardly a young prospect. I think it's fair to say that at this point he is what he is.

Scout.com: Hollinger’s Draft Board: Leuer at 14 – June 22nd, 2011

[John Hollinger] John Hollinger: I feel like the Hawks signed Radmanovic solely to keep me entertained. I just hope they encourage him to handle the ball in transition. – October 9th, 2011

The AJC says that JSmoove has lost 25 pounds and is now at 225, his lowest since he entered the L.
Also he is convonced that his time has arrived and needs to do important things here.
He believes also that somebody within the organization should have defended him from all comments that were thrown at him after the POs.
LD says that he is jumping and reacting much quicker than last year.
The player is free of any physical injury.

Does it mean he will be playing the 3 more? One cannot be 225 pds to confront the rest of the PFs of this league, I believe.

Hey if the oppurtunity arose to trade Joe Johnson for an expiring would the hawks bite?
