Paul George Question

Post#1 » by iansportsdude7 » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:24 am

So I am not a Pacers fan, nor do I watch many Pacers games, but I wanted to ask you guys this since I figure nobody will know better than the bunch here in the Pacers forum:

With Paul George supposedly growing another inch to somewhere in the 6'9-6'10 range, is his transition from SG to SF more a matter of when and not if? And if so, what is the team going to do with Granger. It seems inevitable to me that in a year or two it'll be tough to play both George and Granger on the court together at the same time as they both are best fit at SF. And if they move someone, who goes first, Granger or Paul?

It's not a problem to have such talent at the position, but moreso wondering how Paul George fits into the team's long term plans.

Any ideas?

Danny goes first if PG progresses like everyone expects him to. Or they keep them both around long term. Last year they didn't always mesh well but PG was a rookie. If they can make their size and their games work together, that would be a unique advantage for the Pacers.

The two wing positions are completely interchangeable. It doesn't really matter who is a SG and who is a SF, especially when Granger can handle offensive responsibilities and long-range shooting of a SG, and George can handle defensive responsibilities of a SG.

Right. Kind of like if Magic Johnson can be a PG, Paul George can be a SF. :D

Nice problem to have, if we get to the point that Danny is expendable we'll be making a blockbuster deal. Will make an interesting off season in 2012.

Why blow it up? We are going to win a ring this season.

I think we're going to try to add pieces to compete immediately - that's what all the David West/Jamal Crawford type stuff is about. What's nice is that Bird is targeting these guys on 2-year deals, so if it doesn't work out, he can reevaluate and rebuild quickly without having big contracts hanging around that he feels the need to dump.

If Granger gets traded, it's going to be in summer 2013.

From the Pacers' Media Day videos and photos, Paul George said he grew an inch over the offseason, he is now 6'-9" WITH NO SHOES. With shoes, he could even go 6'-11". There was a picture of Granger, David West, and Paul George together and it seemed Paul George was the tallest.
A 6'-11" SG? Damn! Everyone says Paul George improved the most during the offseason. Can't wait to see him play.

Interesting. Do you have any other predictions about the Pacers this coming season?

No. Usually if I make a bold prediction, I elaborate. Otherwise, assume it's sarcasm.
