2005 PG Vs 2011 PG's

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Sat Dec 17, 2011 4:19 pm

Obviously the 2005 draft class had three PG's taken in the top 10 and so did the 2011 draft class!

Look at the current class and compare it to the 2005 class. Then say who you think will match who when it comes to career, impact on their team and impact on the NBA.

Kemba, Irving or Knight is the future Chris Paul
Kemba, Irving or Knight is future Deron Williams
Kemba, Irving or Knight is the future Raymond Felton

I don't think any of them have similar games, but to play along.

Kemba's game most resembles Paul
Knight's game most resembles Felton

Kyrie in no shape or form reminds me of Deron, but that is all that is left.

My ceiling for each is:
Kemba = poor man's AI
Knight = Rondo with a better J
Kyrie = a prime Devin Harris

Really difficult to tell right now because Kemba and Knight have so much more to learn in order to become good point guards. Kyrie is the only pure point out of the group. So as of now Kyrie stands out in all the categories and has the best chance at being the next Paul or Deron. But since those two are superstars, it is unfair to suggest he will ever become that good. Although, I think Kyrie will become the best passer out of everyone.

I think that Kyrie will be the smartest (seeing the floor, playing with poise etc).

Yeah I agree, he is a naturally gifted play maker and has eyes in the back of his head. I've loved him since his high school days when I watched a bunch of videos on him and marveled at his passing abilities. That's why I was talking him up last summer before he entered college. You don't see many skilled young players nowadays get more enjoyment out of setting up their teammates over scoring themselves. When I see that in a skilled young player, I just know he understands how to play within a team. And it's why he was selected much higher than Kemba, even though Kemba led his team to a title. Hopefully KW adds this to his game.
