OT: Which Smartphone should I buy?

Post#1 » by Stannis » Sat Dec 17, 2011 4:18 pm

My contract at ATT just ran out. So I can upgrade and buy a new phone at a discount if I sign a new contract.

Any suggestions?

I know everyone is using iPhones, but I would rather try to stay away from the iPhone. Never liked Apple, and I do not want to start.
-But, if iPhones are truly the best smartphones out there, I will buy one.

Anyone here tried using one of those Windows smartphones, how are those?

I do not mind spending some cash, as long as it is worth it.

I personally do not like touchscreen keyboards so the iPhone isn't for me. If that isn't a problem for you though, then you should probably get the iPhone or a Droid.

Even though I don't like the cheap feel of the phone, the S 2 is a powerful device.

The Atrix 2 is solid as well.

Well this is going to be my first smartphone, and the iPhone 4 seems pretty easy to use.

Does the Samsung Galaxy have all the kind of apps a iPhone has.

The Galaxy S 1? Definitely. Bigger screen, better camera, records in 1080p, plus it runs HTC's Sense user interface.

Android phones have nearly all the useful apps Apple has, but in sheer number, Apple beats Android's apps by a wide margin, but Android users have the little trick of sideloading apps. Apple's user interface, iOS, is also much easier to use out of the box than any Android phone, but Android shines in customization.

They're very much the same. Galaxy S II has the better battery, but the Amaze has a slightly better dual-core processor and is almost 2 ounces heavier. The deciding factor is which user interface you prefer.

FINALLY!

Too bad Verizon disabled Google Wallet, but that shouldn't matter right away for another year or two until more retail stores and phones start implementing NFC chips. By then, you'll be primed for another upgrade anyway.

First things first switch to Verizon. Get the thunderbolt or rezound. Might want the bigger battery for the bolt tho

Android HTC G2

It's really the best of both worlds as it's a large touch screen phone yet also has a slide out Kwerty keyboard. My boy has an iPhone yet he always raves about my phone. iPhone is really more about jockeying for position to show how "cool" you are. But functionality wise the G2 does everything the iPhone does with the exception fo "Face Time". But seriously, is it that important to see somebodies mug?
