Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part IX)
To be honest, I think the Nets team is much worse even though they have Deron on that team. I seriously doubt they ever win a championship just because they have two great players.
In my opinion:
Wade >>> Deron
Lebron and Bosh >>> Dwight and Humphries or whatever scrub the Nets find
Rose >>> Deron
Noah/Boozer/Deng >>> Dwight and whatever scrubs Nets have to sign
Regardless, it is a team sport and I think the Magic team is better than what the Nets have. Unless Dwight is traded there, that team will have a helluva time surrounding him with better talent than Dwight has in Orlando. Humphries and Morrow are nothing but backups on most teams.

JJ = fan favorite/tibow. we ignore the negatives and want so badly for him to succeed. man some peeps even want him starting. he is a nice guy but the kid is a situational role player AT BEST. period.

people don't over-react over one practice.....All of them obviously wasn't going all out and they were practicing for an hour before the open practice so some of them could have been already somewhat winded...Let's wait until tomorrows game to judge

J-Rich needs to kick rocks.....Too inconsistent and virtually brings nothing to the table that Redick can't emulate

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part IX)
Just got home from the open practice and scored 2 tix to the home opener
Man, I was real proud of my Magic brethren for showing up and out for Dwight and the team. 9,000 strong all supporting Dwight and the squad.
Couple of basketball tidbits:
-Liggins was a steal. I know he's only 6'6", but he should be starting at SF if Hedo is going to play like trash.
-Hedo is terrible. Can't bend his knees on defense.
-Von Wafer can flat out score. He'll be huge for us off the bench.
-Orton looks lost; he is definitely not ready for primetime. We need a real back up center.
-Ryan is still ryan.
I watched Liggins play in college the last couple of years (gave my Gators hell). He has a great all around game and really hustles harder than any other guy on the floor. I still don't like Hedo defending the likes of Melo, Deng, and James, and Liggins would bring far more energy and heart to the starting 5 imo.

before putting Liggins in the starting line up, lets see if he makes the team first, and how he does in a real nba game, however from the open practice today, liggins probably impressed me the most, von, hughes both look good also, and I agreed Orton looks lost and doesn't belong out there, I hope he just got tired from practice right before the open practice

My call for Liggins is as much a recall on Hedo. Hedo just looks lazy on O and D. And that's not a sentiment I have based on the practice, but rather most of last season.

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part IX)
Too bad I missed the practice! From you everyone's descriptions, it sure sounds like we definitely need to be packaging Hedo, JJ, Duhon for draft picks if we can't package them for better talent and give these younger guys the playing time. It seems like they are hungry and want to play hard! If Liggins defense turns out to be good AND he attacks the basket, he needs to be backup of JRich at SG. How was Von Wafer's passing/creating? He might turn out to be a good backup PG. Better than Duhon. We really should be dumping higher salary guys for draft picks and developing the younger guys. Even if he's not traded, this has to be JJ's last year.

One question guys? Do we sign Baron Davis today or what? Otis needs to get off his ASS!! I think the whole back thing was exagerated so he could clear waivers. We cant accept Dwights supporting cast as it stands today!

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part IX)
idk how much this has been discussed, but is there a scenario in which we can see dwight simply OPT-IN through his contract?
it's only one extra year in a city that he says he loves, and the opportunity to leave would still be there- at the same time we'd have a bunch of contracts come off the books and potentially bring in BOTH josh smith and monta ellis in addition to dwight-
we could potentially start
Ellis
JRich
Smith
Davis
Dwight
in the 2013-2014 opening night

Hedo needs to go, unfortunately I think he is about untradeable at this point by himself, maybe if we throw a 1st in with him for SJax maybe but I have a hard time seeing us being able to move him.
I like what I saw from liggins, von and clark, but then again those guys are trying to prove something so you cant really tell until they play a few games.

Wow, just saw the Jeff Green news. Horrible for him. Hope he recovers. First, Boston missed out on David West and now this...their depth just took a serious hit!
