The whole thing about Braun having a testosterone level that is an MLB record makes me raise an eyebrow and keeps my mind open to there being a better reason than simply increased peformance on the field.

Could be, but I mean really? Can't we just wait a month before people start grabbing onto Braun having aids, herpes, greaves disease, erectile disfuncion, etc.

Makes me feel a hell of a lot better than PEDs.

It's already been stated on plenty of credible sources that it wasn't a PED.

At least this time, House MD wasn't used to diagnose his condition.

Seriously. What the ****?

Maybe some of Rodgers Manliness rubbed onto Braun. You know, kinda like the PED cream, but just spews out of Rodgers kinda like Chuck Norris.

Braun tests positive for PED

Sounds like this herpes defense is gaining steam. Rumor has it that's the story circulating around the org. That would be über lulz-worthy.

It would actually be incredibly unfortunate that he had to publicly reveal his condition because of a leak to a media outlet that didn't bother to find all the facts before reporting their story.

I've heard for awhile now that Braun could eventually challenge Wilt's record. If this is the main defense, I wonder how many woman are going to come out and claim that he gave them the ol' herp-a-derps. This is going to be an eventful offseason.

I can see multiple lawsuits coming as well. To go along with penis burn his ears will be burning when he's on the road.

The ESPN guy who broke the story was on WTMJ a couple nights ago. That guy keeps insisting that Braun failed a test for PED's.

I have a hard time buying the whole "dong infection" excuse being floated around. I'd guess a material portion of pro players have to deal with that condition and we've never heard it used as a reason for a positive banned substance test.

I think Braun's problems have now tainted Rodgers with some bad luck. Or at least his receivers hands.

I heard Braun has a raging case of Scurvy. Let that be a lesson to all of you to get your daily citrus intake.

tmz; ymmv.

Ryan Braun's positive test for banned substances was caused by medication he's taking for a private medical issue -- NOT performance enhancing drugs ... this according to sources directly connected with Major League Baseball.

My question, and I admit I haven't followed this close. Lets say the following scenario is what occurred:

1. Braun gets STD
2. Braun gets medication for STD, medication contains ingredient on MLB's banned substance list

however

3. Said medication is only medication available to treat STD

Does he still get the 50 games? I'm guessing yes, but that seems like an absolute joke to me if true. There has to be some gray area there, doesn't there?

Again, I'm speaking not knowing the details or if that has been covered.

There was talk that the suspension would still hold because apparently he didn't have a medical waiver.

If that were to hold, I would think him and the players association would sue the league. At some point their has to be common sense.

I agree, as long as his medical provider vouched for him, they are going to suspend him 50 games over a paperwork technicality? That seems ridiculous, but we shall see.

I thought the 50 game suspension is for PEDs, and its 25 for "banned substances". So if it was a medication that isn't a PED, wouldn't the suspension only be for 25 games?

Also, I thought it was only if he didn't inform the league. As a player, he has the responsibility to check what he intakes and report that to the league if it is necessary for the condition...atleast in the eyes of the league. I would assume he would still be suspended if he didn't realize it was a banned substance since ignorance is hard to prove.

Yeah, I think if it comes out that it wasnt a PED and it was some other random thing like we discussed, I believe the players union will have his back and hopefully knock out the 50 game suspension.

Not even being a homer, if it was Pujols, I would still think it was a huge joke if it had no on-field effect to improve his game. If Braun still gets suspended and it's proven that it didn't enhance any of his performance, well that's just dumb.
