Re: Rush a Goner
Hey, after seeing the Amundson for Brandon Rush trade tonight the first thing that came to my mind was that Paul George was in line for a big bump in minutes and a starting spot. Do you guys see this as being the case or is there other competition for time at the 2? It seems that the double double he posted in the first preseason game may have been all the front office needed to see to deal Rush.

Mexico? We get our marijuana from the Emerald Triangle upstate. It'll be cheaper AND better.
I didn't say he'd buy from Mexico. Emerald Triangle must be federal land in three states, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona.

Paul George won the starting two guard spot last season. He was already slated for the majority of the minutes at the two, and possibly some back up minutes at the three behind Granger.
The other competition at the two is George Hill and Lance Stephenson, though both are interchangeable and handle point duties as well. There's also Dahntay Jones, who I wish never sees the floor because he thinks he's Kobe offensively.
In addition, the front office has been trying to trade Rush for years now, to Charlotte and Memphis, for example.
I guess I'm the only one on this board who will miss Rush. I wish him the best in GS and I'll be following his career closely. I'm happy he's getting a fresh start.

Re: Rush a Goner
I am still hoping that future pick/s from GS were included.
I too never liked Rush that much but he WAS a part of the young, fun core Larry was trying to build. If you've seen all the Media Day videos, it seems like they're a solid group outside the court, the camaraderie is great, like young boys growing together. The guys are gonna miss Rush.
But he knows this is a business and he could probably have a better career in GS. I wish him well.
Amundson, finally. The guy Larry's been coveting for quite some time now. We already have guys like Hansbrough and Pendergraph that could be this team's Tazmanian Devils, add to that this blue-collared Amundson and we have the scrappiest reserve frontcourt.

I think this has been said for every player he has ever aquired. I think this move was more of a get rid of Rush move to be honest. I doubt we get any picks back.

Re: Rush a Goner
with a tight playoff rotation, I see PG getting 20 to 24 at two and 10 to 12 at three. Hill gets the rest at two and 10 to 12 at point. Lance could force his way into the picture though and with back to backs and back to back to backs, we'll have to find time for him and/or Dahntay in the rough stretches.
I liked Rush in his early years and thought he showed more early than Danny did. he never got better though. maybe it was the weed. I wish him well but think between Paul and Hill (or is that George and George?) Rush would have had a hard time finding minutes.

Re: Rush a Goner
nothing against brandon,
but the more i've searched
on amundson, the more
i like the trade.
guy's really scrappy and
fearless to bang down
low. kind of like a young
feisty with a measure of
pollard because of the
hair.
methinks we're a better
team with this guy than
had we kept rush around.

Re: Rush a Goner
Depth wise, if Larry doesnt have a shooter coming in, I would have kept Rush and resigned McRoberts and not signed Pendergraph. I would rather play Rush than Danthay.

Thanks man, exactly what I was wondering about. Didn't realize he had won the starting job last year.

No problem. Good luck this season. I'd like to see Dallas go back-to-back.

Re: Rush a Goner
Well, Rush and Amundson are paid the same. Essentially, we've swapped out the $3.1 million in salary on Josh McRoberts for the $1 million or so in salary on Pendergraph. It's simply a financial move at this point, while maintaining top cap flexibility the rest of this season, and for next year as well. Yeah, we all like Josh, but I think as much as we would have liked to have him back, he wanted to be elsewhere and get a new chance. He knew he would always be behind both Hibbert and Hansbrough here, as well as behind any new PF we would bring in (David West).

I'm hoping Rush doesnt turn into a pumpkin for GSW...So far he's been a brilliant role player for us. Fits in perfectly with Ellis or Curry or both.

Keep him motivated. Hold back his weed or something. He can play, just need to keep him interested.

Give him more weed. He plays much better when he is high.
