Week 16: Bears Lead up
Bears are still technically in the hunt. Peppers and their D could cause us some problems. May or may not have to win based on how the Niners do Monday night.
If the Niners lose and we have home field wrapped up I still expect us to play hard. As was said in the game/post game threads momentum going into the playoffs is important. I don't want to limp into the playoffs. Of course the Saints lost their last 3 before they won the SB...

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
Bears could be eliminated on Saturday if the Lions win. I'm hopeful that happens because I'd like to rest our players for the majority of the game.
I wouldn't feel right if the Bears had something to play for and we pulled our guys, especially after what happened in the regular season finale last year.

Steelers are without Pouncey and Big Ben, I'd bet on the 49ers winning tomorrow.

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
The price of tix sure dropped now that it's basically a preseason game. To me it's all about keeping Rodgers healthy. Our line is a mess. Clifton still can't practice a full week, if he can't go this week I doubt he will be a factor in the playoffs. You just can't sit out that long and come back 4 months later and be good. We need Bishop and he's another one that I want to see get some snaps the last two weeks, otherwise he'll have been sitting a couple of months.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If Peppers is disrupting whoever we put in at RT next week, I'd pull Rodgers right away.

Not sure that's accurate. Even if the Lions win, the Bears would still be able to get the other wild card spot. And Atlanta plays at NO this week, and the Bears beat ATL so they have tiebreaker. I think this game will mean something to the Bears and I'm glad that we'll have the opportunity to kill their playoff dreams on Christmas Day.

With all the talk on the loss what really matters is how we respond against the Bears. If we come out and look bad again then I would worry a little, otherwise McCarthy will make adjustments. Both sides of the ball will be ready.

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
Just looking at this years D vs. last years, by far the #1 issue:
2010 sack percentage: 8.2% (3rd in NFL)
2011 sack percentage: 4.7% (29th in NFL)
That is with blitzing more in 2011 as well. Either people have figured out our blitz schemes, or our talent is that inept at rushing the passer. Either way, outside of the health of the offensive line, that is my primary concern heading into the playoffs. We simply cannot get to the QB to save our lives, even when we bring 6.
Hope Rodgers is hot for the playoffs.

How many times have we used the psycho package? How many times have we brought a corner? It seems like all of our blitzes are LBs up the middle. I wonder how exotic Capers has been with his blitzes and schemes?

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
It would be real nice to see the Packers kill the playoff hopes of the Bears after my number 1 team beat them thise week. Seahawks still have a shot at it if they beat San Fran next week and AZ the final week, but Detroit has to lose twice. Not sure that's going to happen. Stupid Oakland.

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
Yup letting Jenkins go and thinking we were covered was a mistake by TT no doubt. Neal has done nothing. No one else has either. Definitely need to address DL in the draft.

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
Agreed on letting Jenkins go ending up being a mistake. TT doesn't make a lot of them, but that one turned out to be pretty big.
I still think we are the best team in the NFL though and have the best shot to win the Owl. I do think he needs to address the defensive issues via the draft next year though.

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
I think Collins going out also hurt us a ton. Peprah filling in for Burnett isn't as noticeable, but filling in for an all pro caliber S, very noticeable. He's been hot trash this year.
We need front 7 help (probably at least two guys), and a safety if Collins can't go. Could use another developmental DB too.

agreed, other than lineman and maybe a qb, i see no need for any offensive picks

Not gonna happen if we need the W to clinch homefield.

IF Collin is done - move Woodson to S & draft CB somewhere 1st thru 3rd w/ DL & OLB
maybe G/C & another DL in 4th (we get xtra 4th as comp for Jenks) QB in 5th

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
Superstar and all-star level players don't make as big of an impact in the NFL as they do in the NBA or anything like that...
But when you lose a Hall of Fame level talent like Collins and a Pro Bowl level talent like Jenkins it is going to hurt. This year just shows that it can hurt pretty bad. It's obvious to see where we miss them too.
The side opposite of Clay offers little pass rush and thus they can focus on him more, making him far less effective. Losing Collins you can see that a lot more of our corners are getting burned deep... the lack of pass rush obvious leading to that as well.

Re: Week 16: Bears Lead up
Bedard is going off about Luke Rodgers (Aaron's older brother) blaming Rodgers' teammates.
GregABedard Greg A. Bedard
I really wish Tom Brady had a brother on Twitter that threw the WRs, TEs, Ks and DEF under the bus when things go wrong like @thelukerodgers
GregABedard Greg A. Bedard
Sure would make things more interesting
GregABedard Greg A. Bedard
Me either. Winning im sure helps tone it down RT @JamesDDickson: I'm surprised ARodg hasn't shut that down.
GregABedard Greg A. Bedard
Thats the problem RT @BTGlory: I still fear, somewhere deep down Aaron Rodgers feels similarly.
GregABedard Greg A. Bedard
@olegunnerbryan Because I don't think it's right. I've bit my tongue for a while but yesterday/today put me over the top. I cover the NFL
GregABedard Greg A. Bedard
I just find it funny that a brother who takes any criticism of Aaron personally doles it out to his teammates with little problem
