Pargo expected to sign with ATL

Post#1 » by D21 » Mon Dec 19, 2011 11:41 pm

Charlotte–The Hawks plan to sign point guard Jannero Pargo. He’s expected to join the team tomorrow.

Pargo, 32, was out of the league last season after playing 63 games with Chicago in 2009-10. He’s a high-usage guard who isn’t much of a shooter but takes the bulk of his shots from 16 feet and out. His assist rate was among the lowest for point guards in 2009-10, according to hoopdata.com...

I updated the salaries information thread ( Link ), and if I'm not wrong, it shows that we had the possibility to add one minimum contract and stay under the tax threshold.

With Pargo in the roster, ATL will have 14 players under contract, and one more would mean Tax.

Needed ball-handler more than anything, with Hinrich being out for so long. Guy can knock down a jumper and another vet for Teague to bounce things off of. Not jumping for joy with this signing but there are a lot worse options out there IMO.

Can offer 10-15 "safe" minutes off the bench but would like to see more of Sloan though...

He's got a nice mid range shot as far as I can remember... more of a combo guard. He's probably going to be more important to us than T- Mac and Stack.
GO HAWKS.

Actually I would prefer Bogans to stackhouse from an all around POV, but especially defense and low TO late in his career. I liked the way he was sticking to his role with the Bulls last year.

Teague- Pargo- KH (or potential for trade)
JJ- T Mac- Bogans
Smith- Marvin- Bogans
Horford- Smith- Rolle
Collins- Horford- Zaza- Benson

JP is best friends with Chris Paul, maybe that will help for next summer, if Paul is a free agent.

Jannero Pargo...will help...ATL get CP3.

Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan and Caron Butler and Chauncey Billups are CP3's best friends.

Boy oh boy...

No Paul is in LA with the Clippers for at least 2 years, maybe if we had gotten Pargo before Paul got traded.
