Detroit and Utah via Twitter

Post#1 » by QuantumMacgyver » Mon Dec 19, 2011 5:09 pm

I know it is Twitter and there is no reason to put any weight in this, but say Utah and Detroit are talking. Detroit wants a big. Anything on their roster worth any of our bigs?

Ben Gordon will always spark my interest due to his big games for the Bulls in the playoffs, but the dude has totally fallen off in Detroit. Monroe and Daye would have to be a no for me as they are both bigs, and if the Jazz move a big it's because they have a logjam.

That leaves Knight and Stuckey. I'm not crazy about Stuckey, but Knight would be tempting.

What do you all think it would take to get Knight? and would it be worth it?

From the sound of things they want a primary low post scorer, or defensive stopper so I don't imagine Millsap is where they'd be looking. My bet would be Memo or Big Al. Not sure Memo would be enough to get Knight.

A deal around Big Al and Ben Gordon works in the machine, but I'd say they would have to throw in a lot for us to take Gordon's contract. I believe it only runs one year more than Al's, but Gordon has not shown up for years. It would be a huge gamble for sure.

I might pull the trigger on a Big Al for Ben Gordon deal if it included an unprotected first in this years draft.

Daye is a small forward, so I think we'd be pretty interested in him. Knight, also, is tempting - but I doubt we could field an offer we liked.

Millsap for a Detroit 1st Round Pick and Daye? Probably a pipe dream lol, but maybe Detroit has a 1st round pick from another average team.

"Pistons may have trade partner in Utah". There isn't much to the bit, but they've been fairly accurate throughout the lockout.

I thought Daye was 6' 11". Am I wrong, or is he just an enormous SF?

Austin Daye would be my choice. 6'11" SF who has 3 point range, athletic, rebounds, blocks shots.

NO WAY DETROIT TRADES HIM.

He is a gigantic small forward. He's long, thin and athletic. Think Rashard Lewis build.

Gordon's contract is long. And he's an undersized 2, which I hate seeing, but Utah coaches tend to go with. I have even heard Brevin Knight might play some 2 for us...

Brandon Knight would be great though.

I doubt Detroit wants to let go of Daye right now.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Gordon? No thanks, we've already got Miles to shoot the basketball no matter what...
Knight? Yeah.... but Pistons won't do it I think...

Daye or Knight would be great.
One thing in Dayes favour is his highlight reel features the Jazz a lot.
We normally trade for or sign guys who have torched us in the past

I'd be stoked to get Daye. We'd be huge on the wings with him and Hayward playing together. How's his defense though?

Daye had 5 blocks in our first preseason game. But I don't think Detroit would trade him unless you were taking on BG's contract with him (possibly for Okur).

Daye is on the market. Knight and Monroe are not. We lucked out getting Monroe over Favors. He averaged a double double the second half of the season. You'll see him stand out a lot more this year. Daye on the other hand, you can have. We just signed Prince and it doesn't look like he'll be starting. He has potential to be a starter but he's weak and slim. Daye for Millsap.

Gordon for Okur or Jefferson (even though I don't like him)
