Maybe its time UNC win a true road game right Hubie!!
You love saying how Syracuse has only played one true road game this year. How many has UNC played Hubie? STFU

Really Hubie... the most impressive thing was their trapping and pressure?
Pressing and trapping a team like Nicholls St? Stay classy Carolina.

Tier 1:
Anthony Davis
Perry Jones
Jeremy Lamb
Tier 2:
MKG
Kabongo
Tier 3:
Miller
Drummond
Barnes
Drummond and Miller can skyrocket up there, but for now, you know? Also, I haven't seen Sully, Robinson, or Beal play so yeah lol.FluLikeSymptoms wrote:But Barnes still isn't looking special.
Barnes has got to be one of the most overrated prospects ever at this point. He's looking like Marvin Willams with a 3 ball.
I'd never draft Kabongo over Drummond.

Well Drummond's played like crap. He has poor fundamentals, is shooting like 33% from the line, has a poor motor, shies away from contact, and on both sides of the floor can be often caught standing around. That's A LOT to fix.

Yeah all the games have been pathetic. I bet some of the CIS teams are as good or better than the teams that are playing against UNC, Duke, and Baylor. Also, don't sleep on Bradley Beal. It looks like he has really grown and bulked up a little. People will start hearing his name more once the tournament starts.

we need a gamechanger in the backcourt or at 3 desparately. Im tired of drafting all these pfs. these prototypical pfs can never be the no 1 option on a competetive team. we need an explosive scorer with some playmaking ability. harrison barnes is certainly not the solution. hes just another derozan with better shooting. no explosiveness or first step there. only guy that fits the bill is austin rivers. to a certain extent jeremy lamb cuz i see glimpses of T-mac everytime i see him play

If Austin Rivers could actually play pg instead of being oj mayo 2.0, then he'd be #1 on board for sure. Prolly #1 in the country. Unfortunately he wants to be wade or ray allen or something instead of being D.Rose or even a taller A.I. Pisses me the F off...

can;t wait to see what Perry Jones does this week on St Mary's (Davis) and then W Virginia (Kevin Jones). He is starting to look like he has the highest upside of the swingmen in the draft

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
Really hard to say who is standing out to me at this point. Nobody has seperated themselves from the pack in my opinion. I'd go Anthony Davis, but I'm not really into drafting another PF quite honestly lol, unless said PF is Blake Griffin or somebody like that. However, I have to say Perry Jones is intriguing, because I think that dude can play multiple positions, from SF to PF, you name it, I think he's talented enough to do it.
Gotta say, Harrison Barnes has been underwhelming to say the least, but at the same time, I don't want to give up on him. I never want to give up on players who have the work ethic and overall intangibles. I can totally see him turning into a beast on the San Antonio Spurs, with Gregg Popovich, in that system. But, I'm not sure if he'll ever be the star he was hyped up to be. In the end, he just may not be the ideal fit on our team, simply because he's a lot like DeRozan in a way; he needs a system to utilize his strengths, and I'm beginning to think DeMar might need similar structure, Rip Hamilton-style. Good thing about DeMar is, he's exceptional in transition, Harrison Barnes is more of a halfcourt guy.
So, as far as our pick goes, I'm more of a Perry Jones, Jeremy Lamb, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist guy at this point. Kabongo and Marshall for PG, particularly if we land Steve Nash to mentor them.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
I really dislike the attention people are paying to offense. We need good two way players...
Sure guys like Austin Rivers can score but what else does he bring to the table.
A guy like Kidd, brings way more to a team.
Perry Jones rebounds well enough if he plays as a SF, but if he has to go as a PF its nothing special. Honestly not to sure how his D is.
People talk about needing a dynamic super slasher to create offense.... Its totally b.s.
Sure its exciting to see MJ Kobe T-mac etc etc. break down a defense and make things happen but its just as easy to create offense with passing and screens.
Pick and roll. Run Derozan off screens and you have the basics for a high quality offense. Stretch the floor with Bargnani and it makes it even harder to guard an Amir or Val in pick and roll situations.
We don't need a great scorer, we just need a great player
Give me Davis, Drummond, Kidd-G or Barnes all of them look to be good or better on defense (Barnes needs to pick it up a notch if he going to stay in the decent defender category)

yea, same thing here too, i am not giving up on barnes yet but if he's playing casey's system, and that's gonna be tough on him. I'm more worried on drummond cos though he's had a big game last time but there's no reports on saying he becomes more aggressive or whatever...so I'm still worried about his inconsistency... and totally agree with u on davis...he might be ed davis 2.0 but ....we need wing scorers man...
I've always liked MKG and after seeing the system that we have under casey, i think he'll be doing really good in it, think of what james johnson do, helping the weak side D, blocking shots...i'm sure MKG can do even better than him in that department..., he's like a cat on the court, he goes out and does everything...plays defense, gets steals, blocks, crash the board, slash...i love these type of players...but however we really need a go-to scorer, I'd only want MKG if we somehow find ways to get Kabongo...if we have those two in our lineup it'll be amazing.
PJ3 has the most potential but he doesn't strike me as the guy who has the "takes over the game" mentality, I too have confident in him playing the SF. If Hedo can do it, so can PJ3. He has the handles, not flashy but he won't turn it over or get sloppy when dribbling it. He just have to learn how to play the pick and roll effectively. I will be happy if we get him cos I see his potential, he's got court vision for someone his size, I like to see the ball in his hand for the raptors, even if he doesn't take the game over, he can still do alot of damage, finding teammates, taking size adv on offense...etc.
I just saw kemba walker's preseason game, and I know its only a preseason, but he did the same thing he did in uconn, he took over the damn game in 2nd half against hawks...and that makes me sigh. Kemba would've been our go to scorer, someone who leads our team cos we don't have a freaking leader on our team right now. But a part of me says to myself I need to have patience for Val, it's a good pick for us...but the same time kemba could have been something special for us this year too.

Anthony Davis would look really good next to Valanciunas. That combo would be a dream in terms of defense, rebounding, and high percentage scoring near the basket. We could even call them beauty and the beast.

I think Kemba will prove a lot of these GM's wrong. he looked incredibly comfortable in his combo guard position and I think that could be a very strong asset on any team. While we lack any offensive threats, we sacrifice it for a guy who doesn't command the minutes with his talent to tear it up in the Lithuanian league. I hope Val pans out so don't get me wrong. However, any stats he put I might just laugh at because he's playing in the Lithuanian league, it doesn't matter if they're grown men, that doesn't mean sh*t. Ranked NCAA teams would probably beat these guys over there. If Val ends up being a simple bust then BC would have failed in a year where he could have drafted a scoring guard in Knight or Walker and then waited till next season to get a big man or wing in the draft. This would have even helped him prolong the Bargnani experiment if he wanted to. Instead he has created a log jam in the front court with a bunch of big men who haven't shown what we expected from them. I''m not bashing Val, all I'm saying is that if he doesn't emerge into some sort of franchise player (which watching him hardly do damage in Lithuania is making this harder to believe), then our franchise has no hope.
