Western Conference prediction. Take a guess

Post#1 » by nghedman » Tue Dec 20, 2011 1:58 am

Who is going to win the season? Where do you see the Jazz placing this year, and what about the other teams. Here is my prediction

The Memphis Grizzlies are the hardest one to place for me this year.

1. Lakers
2. Oklahoma
3. Dallas
4. Clippers
5. San Antonio
6. Utah
7 Memphis
8. Portland

9. Houston
10 Denver

And then the fun part I am adding to the prediction
Playoffs:
1.Lakers
2.Oklahoma
3.San Antonio
4. Utah

1.Utah
2.Oklahoma

1.Utah - Western conference finals champions

1. Thunder
2. Mavs
3. Lakers
4. Spurs
5. Grizzlies
6. Clippers
7. Blazers
8. Nuggets
----------------

I think the Nuggets sneak in over the Jazz based on coaching. I hesitate to put the Clippers where they're at because I don't believe VDN is a very good coach, but I think they'll make it to 6 in spite of him.

from the first half of the preseason game we really need to work on defense and offense lots of work ahead so too early to call anything.

I don't think the Jazz can afford two more developers, not enough time on court for that many players.
The Jazz would end up wasting two to three players if that happened.

They need to make the playoffs now with trying to develop all the rookies and sophmores this year, that is tough enough.

Really?

It seems more obvious to draft as many high picks as you can, and then sort out the keepers from there.

Kings and NO are only two teams I know for sure are worse than we are.

I think Favors has a huge year, but he doesn't know how to win games yet. We don't have a leader, and IMO we are going to crumble after a few losses when it becomes apparent that it's time to hand over the it's to the youngsters and let them get into some accidents.

Guys like Bell, Howard, Harris and Jefferson could start looking to get their own, then we become a real mess.

Yep.

I guarantee you that Milsap if he doesn't get more than 20 min a game playing time and Corbin instead tries to split up the minutes at PF/SF to Favors, Kanter, Evans, Hayward and Howard and Burk there will be trouble in the locker room and players demanding playing time or a trade.
I wish is wasn't so but Corbin has a tough tough year this year... is he going to go for it this year and sacrafice players, or develop players for future years success or try to do some kind of combination of both.... Good Luck.

I don't understand why everyone is so dead set on playing the young guys so much. Now first I do agree they need playing time but there is something to be said about learning how to win. That is why you want some established Vets on the team that knows how to help a team win. People mention that Al Jeff just gets stats on a bad team unable to help the team win consistently. With that said you don't want our young guys learning to put up numbers but not win do you? Howard, Bell, Millsap, and Okur all are Vets that can help them learn this. So playing a little less to help the young guys to win might be in our best interest. Many of the best player we think of might not of had the best rookie or sophmore years because they didn't play as much and also because they had Vets helping instill this attitude of winning. Here is a good article by Frank. Losing should not be tolerated and so we need Vets to help us win and help instill a winning tradition for our young guys.

dont mind us this is all backlash at the piss poor effort the starters put up during last nights game. They didn't even try to play on either end of the floor. From all that talk about defense I didn't see any last night. The only thing that made last night bearable was the fact that the Lakers lost to the clippers.

I'm with you. I was really hoping we made a bid for Adelman once Sloan left.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Kobe 15.5 minutes, Garnett 28 minutes, Stockton 18 minutes, hornacek 19.5 minutes, Shawn Kemp 13.8, Reggie Miller 22 minutes, Pippen 20.9 minutes to name a few. Yes they are all not super stars but they all learned to win and in my opinion that helps a young player in big ways. You notice that the younger the player comes out the more apt to play less in the first season: Kobe, Kemp, Garnett all were 18-19 year old's and needed deserved less time to help them learn to win. You can think what you want but there are also a lot of players that received a good amount of time at a young age produced well but never learned to win.
