Not a joke...

Sources: Rockets, at the moment, taking a pass ($) on Dalembert, leaving return to Kings as a possibility.

lol
But yeah, it looks like with Hayes gone, he's just going to end up back in Sacramento. Have to wonder if he'll just sign a 1-year deal and try to test the market again next offseason.

Just talked to Samuel Dalembert. He confirmed Rockets likely out of the picture and Sacramento is back in it.

Samuel Dalembert on Houston out of the picture: "I guess so. It's really frustrating.'' On Sacramento: "Yes, it's a possibility.'' .
christomasson Chris Tomasson
Samuel Dalembert is the top remaining FA on market He had never ruled out re-signing w/ Kings. Have need due to Chuck Hayes failing physical
hopefully this guy put in a good word for Miami.

Since it looks like he will sign a one year deal and re-test the FA market next season, doen't it make more sense to sign with the Heat and get the exposure that being a key piece of a champtionship team will get him like Tyson Chandler did with Dallas and turned it into a huge payday with NY?

You could also argue that he'd be able to put up better numbers with the Kings though, since they probably won't be playing for anything.
Besides, you're talking about the difference between 8+ million dollars and 1.2 (I believe that's the vet min). That is a HUGE difference. And either way its a gamble, if he gets injured no more long term deal... but at least if he takes the 8+, he'll be that much richer.

No doubt in my mind it comes down to money for Dalembert.
ALl the Centers, even Kwame, got big money.
He isn't going to settle for less to be on a contender. He would rather be loaded.
I don't blame him really.
Even Chandler left for big money lol. AFTER winning.

Re: 2011-12 Thread: FA, Rumors, Trades 2.0
It's frustrating how seemingly close yet so far the reality of getting a solid center is. It's been pretty clear for a while now though that he wants his money. And I doubt that even some of the sign & trade ideas of Joel n' Pitt/House, in the wild scenario that Sacramento would accept that garbage, would create enough money for him and his agent to be happy considering the center market this summer. He won't want to be payed like freaking Kwame Brown.
Also you'd have to imagine the way our organization puts a guy like Joel on a pedestal that he would be informed if there was a possibility of him being traded, and by all accounts (including in his recent dazzling interview about how he vows to commit less fouls this season) there's been no indication that there's something in the works that includes him. I've let this one go.

Absolutely, the only reason I continue to formulate trade possibilities is because it is just that still, possible, but in my head I know its just not happening.

I just don't see why he'd come out during the summer and say he likes the idea of Miami, while everyone knows they have no cap room. If he wants any shot at all of winning hell sign with the Heat. The guy has already made some decent money, so why not sign a 1 year deal, get the ring and then go chase the money. Some players are just (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to me when it comes to what they say is the ultimate goal of winning a championship. I feel like its been a lot harder for the Heat to sign players than it was for Boston its first year with their big three, and even the second year. Basically every vet who wanted to win took no money and ran up to Boston to get it. Why wouldn't they do that down here? Scared of the practices that are notoriously hard?

Re: 2011-12 Thread: FA, Rumors, Trades 2.0
Saying that you want to win it all from these players have become the new leverage to get a better deal. We probably have the best AFFORDABLE bigs available, close the store, work with what we have..We drafted Dex, give him some burn, we shouldn't need a vet at every starting position.
FA's are not lining up to play for what we have to offer, so play with what we have. We have a great team, I remember last year when we got the big three, the role players didn't matter as much. This year we actually have better role players considering UD is healthier, etc.
We just need to stop doing whatever we're doing to get our FA's injured before the season starts, this HEAT CULTURE needs to be adjusted to protect our assets.
I like our team

If we had amnestied Miller we could have offered him the full MLE. Now we are offering the veteran minimum. That's a totally different situation.
Plus he might have been talking about the possibility of the Heat sign and trading for him.
If he signs a one year deal, gets hurt and we choke in the finals then he is screwed. You don't pass up tens of millions of dollars for the chance at a ring.
Winning a championship as the ultimate goal is just media talk. The money is the ultimate goal and it would be for you if you were in his situation. It is easy to say you would pass it up to come to the Heat, especially since you are a Heat fan. He isn't and the money is right there and real for him.

Way too risk to take a one year deal when you're not a star. He'll get a multi-year deal from Sacremento I think. Plus even if he does take a one year deal, we will have even less to offer him next year.

We never were close, they were all pipe dreams built up by ever-optimistic fans. The funny thing was before free agency I was trying to be realistic and I thought we could get Kwame and even he turned out to be too much.
And none of our sign and trades seem plausible. I said in the other thread that I don't think it would work even if we added Cole and I still think that (other teams won't value our rookies as we do)
