Humphries close to re-signing

Post#1 » by jeff1624 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 7:51 pm

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
The Nets are finalizing a one-year deal with Kris Humphries today and expect to have him for final preseason game Wednesday, sources tell Y!

If it's only a one year deal then I like it.

Much better than starting Shelden Williams. What happens if the Magic decide to trade Howard now though? I wonder if we still have the cap space to take on Hedo.

I'm happy as long he doesn't steal Lopez's rebounds.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer already but does the 'can't trade a signed player right away' rule even apply to humphries?

I'm pretty sure this means we're out of the Dwight running until March 1st.

I don't like this move much.

Should have tried to trade for a guy like Jamison, you could retrade a player as long as you don't combine salaries, so we could have done 2 separate trades, Jamison for Dwight, then Brook, picks, cap space, etc. for Hedo.

I've felt the same the whole time, so I guess no need to stress and change that now.

I find myself strangely trusting King and not just blind Nets fan following.
I think he's learned from his mistakes and more importantly like I've said since the summer, he has the inside info from Deron on the Dwight situation.

The deal ranges from 6-8 million for Humphries according to Woj.

Since Memphis lost Arthur, maybe we can flip Hump to Memphis for O.J. Mayo. 8-)

No, we need a PF. It's all going according to the plan.

Hey we needed a PF,we couldn't go into the season so thin upfront. Now Sheldon can back up Lopez the way it should be.I knew this would go to the trade deadline once we clarified that Jan.1st didn't mean anything.Orlando is gonna milk this as long as they can.Allstar game in Orlando smh yea its going the distance.

Im worried now to be honest. Like ive said all along, the Lakers can now take their time and work their jabs to find the best trading partner to get the peices to interest Orlando for 60 days.

We have to sit back now, watch and prey that nothing happens until the deadline. I'd of been much happier with our roster as it was and fighting for the last few playoff spots but still being ready at any moment the magic were ready to trade. Lets be honest the Howard trade hype could really effect Orlando and what happens if on 3rd Jan they decide to trade. We cant do a thing.

This is the 1st time I've been worried about not getting Howard, I was convinced we had him if we sat tight but now not so much.

Grrrrr hope this pays off

I agree with the other posters in that i don't want Humphries taking rebounds away from Lopez, he needs to build up his stats so the Magic will want him more.

Hump will help short-term to make us somewhat respectable. The last thing we would want is to make Deron grumpy...

Have the room, sure, but I'm not sure why the team would want to do that. At this point, I think it's best for the team's future to not lock in any long-term contracts. As I said in the Dwight thread, if you ink long-term deals for a player like AK, that's not going to make Deron stay, all it does is ruin this team's future even more. At least, if Deron does leave, the team won't have any crappy contracts on the books afterwards.
