DX has moved Kabongo to 4th in 2013. If he has a great second half, it wouldn't shock me if he's mid-lottery and one and done, and if so, he might tempt the Raps. Sure, if we have a pick in the 1-3 range thats too high, but if we're sitting somewhere in the 6-10 range, I'd be open minded since we do need a point guard as badly as any other.

I really really hope we don't draft Harrison Barnes. The guy has bust written all over him. I don't see what all the hype is about the guy is a spot shooter nothing more.

A great spot shooter with long arms as a potential defender; perfect fit for Demar and Bargs if those 2 are the future and present.

We don't want a player that needs the ball constantly to be effective , need someone that can play off the ball and play tough D --> Barnes!

Let me guess, Quincy Miller is your favorite SF? Quincy hasn't done anything better than Barnes this season.

Quincy Miller has shown to have much better court vision and passing, averaging 3 assists per game, despite having the balls in his hands much less than Barnes (15.7% vs. 19.7% of the team's possession). Should be able to average more then an assist with the balls in your hands that much imo.

I personally believe we already have superstars-in-waiting (Demar, Bargnani and Ed Davis - will find out with Jonas)

For all the people raving about MKG: The consensus seems to be that we need to draft superstar potential in this draft as we are missing the #1 on this team. MKG is great defensively, but does he have what it takes to be a number one option? He seems to be more of a Marion type complementary "star" to me. My question is: Yes, he's great fit, but is he BPA?

Also, with all these comparisons to Pippen, despite his well rounded game and defensive prowess, I feel people are forgetting his offense and playmaking was pretty darn efficient as well.

I think MKG is the best SF in the draft to date. But I'd still take Drummond, Perry Jones and maybe Anthony Davis.

Word, and there's something to be said for his great intangibles, which can't exactly be measured statistically. Just reading through his HS scouting reports, they all harp on the same things.

Most superstar players are content to put up big scoring numbers and leave the heavy lifting to the supporting cast. Gilchrist takes defending and rebounding personally and wants to be the dominant player on the floor in all areas.

Gilchrist, who is always under the evaluation microscope, has had the No. 1 rated player target on his back for some time and always seems to rise to the occasion when challenged. The kid is a winner with the disposition to dominate and does the dirty work that leads to championships.

One of the few guys you can see ticketed for stardom. Works on his game, loves to compete. Has the package as a transition player, defender and person. Slashes coast to coast. Jump shot is area for improvement but it will come. Winner who values being on the right side of the scoreboard

I hope so. He brings everything we need rebounding, defense, attacks the basket, can pass. You can easily work on your jumper and 3 point shooting, but the things MKG brings to the table cannot be taught.

I just hope we don't fall victim to the Barnes hype. How can people keep making excuses for him? Last year he had a slow start and now this year too? The guy doesn't take over games for his team, can't create his shot (that should be a HUGE concern) and some can argue he's not even the best player on his team. Top 5? Too high for a spot up shooter. I think we've pretty much seen what Barnes brings to the table 3 pt shooting with some dunks and some defense.

MKG is a work horse who does everything except hitting 3's, but if DeRozan can be taught how to hit a 3 pointer so can MKG.

“I did,” Kidd-Gilchrist said. “It’s at 8:30 in the morning. It’s just lifting and shooting (before breakfast). We just want to get better.”

Gilchrist was soon joined by point guard Marquis Teague, sophomores Terrence Jones and Jarrod Polson, and finally fellow freshman Kyle Wiltjer and Anthony Davis. Taking a page from Jordan, the Wildcats refer to themselves as the “Breakfast Club.”

“I’m going to go tomorrow,” Teague said. “People will come on certain days. If they wake up early enough to go, they go. … Coach Cal just mentioned it. He talked about how Michael Jordan’s team did it. He just said it’s something we should take into consideration, and we just did it.”

By establishing an early morning workout regimen, Kidd-Gilchrist has evolved into one of the team’s best leaders.

“I want to be a leader now, so I just want to step into that role,” he said, noting that Calipari picked him to start it because he noticed “I’m always in the gym. I’m just getting better and better and, as y’all saw in the Indiana game and the UNC game, it’s just showing.”

Lets see has Steve Nash ever ducked?
Answer is no never in his career and it didn't stop him being the best PG in the last 15 years.
Kabongo is a floor general something we need distribute the ball make others better.
He has good defense and his offense will improve.
Obviously not our 1st selection but if we are lucky enough to get Davis or Drummond would trade to get him. We could then use our cap space to get a SF.

I still don't see a true superstar in this draft. I see some guys that easily have all-star talent but I'm not seeing any superstar potential yet. I guess PJ3 and Drummond are the closest from a peripherals perspective but they haven't done close to enough on the court for it to be guaranteed.

Either way, thus far it looks like a top 6 - 8 picks gets you an excellent prospect with little variation from 1-8.

Gilchrist is the new Barnes on the Rap Forum lol

I do like him but still not as our 1st pick. He has all the great intangibles which is hard not to love but he's just not that dynamic. The Raptors need a franchise player more then anything ie/ they need a Jordan not a Pippen (as Kidd is being likened to at the height of his potential). To me he still reminds me of Tony Allen with more offensive skills which is a great guy to have in the locker room but not THE guy.
