We have to sit back now, watch and prey that nothing happens until the deadline. I'd of been much happier with our roster as it was and fighting for the last few playoff spots but still being ready at any moment the magic were ready to trade. Lets be honest the Howard trade hype could really effect Orlando and what happens if on 3rd Jan they decide to trade. We cant do a thing.

This is the 1st time I've been worried about not getting Howard, I was convinced we had him if we sat tight but now not so much.

Grrrrr hope this pays off

Really doesn't change a thing. At this point, its very much clear the Magic are not interested (foolishly, I might add) in rebuilding, which was the key advantage that our offer has. With their fickle fanbase and new arena, I can kinda understand that point of view business wise.

Waiting will only hurt us (from winning stand point).

I'm pretty sure the Magic are trying to go to the Denver playbook from last year assuming that the offer can only get better as time goes on.

Only problem with that theory is that in this situation we are in much better position since the star actually wants to come here.

Also a variety of other reasons that will make this situation difficult for Orlando - first and foremost being that I don't think Dwight has the same ability to block out the distractions the way Melo did. He's already admitted he wants out publicly, which I don't believe Melo ever did.

I don't see how Denver made out last year anyway.

If they wanted that identical exact to the decimal point same package for Melo last year from the Knix they could have had it at latest around late November.

There were 2 reasons that dragged out:

1) Denver was under the delusion they could convince Melo to sign with us and therefore before they allowed us to speak directly with him kept leading us on that it was possible for just that.

2) Denver for some reason wanted to wait until they were nearly a playoff lock to make the deal. Sure it provides extra income for the season and a buzz for the dumbed down casual fan with hope for the next season, but now they can never properly rebuild and are stuck in late lotto to mid playoff seed mediocrity for the next 4 to 8 years.

If Gallo and Lawson really improve they will be a perennial playoff team, but a team that can never really win the chip and would struggle mightily to get out of the second round and was even a guarantee any random year to make it out of the first.

But until that happens, if they miss the playoffs this year by literally a handful of games like they probably are going to, they still don't get a good pick and they will no longer have the cap space or assets to make a huge move if one even presents itself.

They maybe able to majorly improve from within, but let's be real here... How much can they improve with that core to be able to compete with Miami, OKC, Chicago, LAC, us, Dallas, LAL, Boston and New York, let alone whatever 2 young teams join the contention fray over the next 2 or 3 seasons?

Can they even become much better then Memphis or Indiana? Portland? Atlanta?

I really have a feeling Billy is just trying to gain leverage against the Magic. I just don't see why they can't see that our, offer is the best one out there. The fact that if they wait for the season, the offers can only get worst.

I just can't see a NBA G.M. that delusional that they are willing to be mediocre than to have a quick rebuilding stage... I have been watching the NBA for about 11 years and there is no way someone can think this way...
