Every rookie enters the NBA with weaknesses don't they? Jordan Williams fundamentals are more sound than Seraphin's currently. What would your expecations be for a 34th pick anyway?

the only thing that Jordan Williams lacks is size. A 6'9 center with a 7'0 wingspan is a recipe for another Jahidi White. however his offensive skills, while not exactly McHale out there - he did manage to score 17 ppg on 54% shooting. He's no offensive stiff. His defense is a little lacking but as closg said, no more than any other rookie C short of Oden.

I think i counted about 15 games against scrubs where we have at least 48 hours between the games, i tended to view any back to backer which included a scrub team as a loss unless it was at home in which case it was a borderline toss up. Not very scientific, but generally thinking, I think we're gonna get rolled when we have back to backers except when we play teams that are really old (since we do have wheels and young bodies) who have them themselves. Didn't check for that.

Anyway, I see 15 wins, and since I see 15, I have to add 2-3 wins for surprises that I simply wouldn't expect. So I'm going with a final record of 18-48. Seems reasonable. Im not sure how to quantify the strike factor. In '98-'99 old teams were hurt by the strike as well as teams featuring guys coming back from injury or guys who apparently ate at all you can eat sizzlers and Vegas Buffet's 24/7 from the summer of '98 to January '99 (looking at you shawn Kemp and you Vin Baker). This may hurt Blatche, and it may hurt Booker, but it doesn't seem like it hurt any of our other guys and I have heard that Blatche actually kinda put the work in (for him kinda is something).

Come on Lottery top 2 pick!

John Wall takes another step this season but still has a ways to go and the Wizards win 21 games.

Take me down from 18-48 to 12-54.

This team is going to be terrible, barring a major trade. Blatche and McGee are it inside. Seraphin won't be much of a player. Singleton will defend well, but every time I see him I probably with think of Kenneth Faried at #18. The veterans the Wizards added are each great guys, but none of them will win you games. Nick Young was pretty much told he is not valued.

Flip is a bad coach. I think Wall will take a step as a player, but teams will figure out how to beat teams he runs, consistently. This is a horrible team that might have the worst record before all is said and done.

Do they rebound well? NO
Do they shoot well? NO
Do they have superstar players who will carry the team? NO, but they have Jordan Collins believing he's a superstar, judging by the shots he takes.

The only thing that I am pretty sure will happen is Saunders won't last more than 20 games.

Flip would have to do really bad to be fired this year, since Ted's not doing evaluatiosn based on W/Ls but on player progress, and that's such a vague thing to measure. 0-20 or 1-19 might get it done; 2-18 and he might still be here.

From a management perspective, I was strongly opposed to firing flip before the lockout, as it would have meant paying his salary. And now he has one more year left on his deal, so if I were Leonsis, I would keep him here, as I think he's doing fine from a player development standpoint.

After the year's up, I'm indifferent: I would be fine with a new coach, and if a clearly superior coach became available, I would jump on him. But if not I'd be fine rehiring Flip. I'm not sure if he wants to come back though...

It's a tough pick without knowing the status on Owens, Wilkes and Hamady as that could easily swingthings by 0.004327%, but I'll say....

19-47. Partly I do so just because only one other person picked that exact number and I assume my share of the prize money would be split out better that way.

Yeesh, not even one poster willing to go as high as .500? We really will suck this year, huh?

Hmm, things do look pretty bleak. I'll go with 17-49. Of course, "bleak" means "great" when it comes to lining up for a chance at the talent pool in the 2012 Draft....

My biggest concern currently for the team is Wall.

Looks like there is an opening for 13-53, so I'll take that.

I'm normally an optimist, but after watching last night's game methinks this team looks terrible. That is, they look exactly like last year's team. Wall is super fast, but I don't see why some people think he is a great passer. His shot does look a bit improved. JaVale is a little better, but still with the stupid stare-down. I think I'm in better shape than Blatche, and I'm a 42 year old desk jockey who exercises once a decade. Flip is an awful Xs and Os coach. You almost never see this team make the extra pass. He should throw out his entire playbook/encyclopedia and go with basic basketball plays. I like JC's attitude, and it will win us a couple of games, but the inefficiency outweighs any positives. And I like Nick, too. The complaints that he is too one-dimensional miss the mark, in my opinion. All we need him to do is what he does OK - score and play decent D. I'm happy with him at the QO. Some potential in the kids, but who knows if and when they will arrive. Not this year, I'm certain.

I think I was happier during the lockout. I could still dream of magic transformations and ponies for Hanukkah.

I'm usually optimusprimistic but we look BAD, and JW looks BAD!

Hopefully we just don't match up with Philly well, but based off of what I saw, I have to think 15 wins!

JAR69, you should post here more often. Good observations.

Just to be different, put me down for 9-57. Lowered expectations for the lose...

I picked 22 wins...but I think I was being way too optimistic. This looks like a 14 win team.

I would like to downgrade my prediction to 21 wins. I still think there will be a slight improvement from last year because of Wall will improve (even despite the preseason games) and possibly McGee, but the rest of the group is either inexperienced or appears to have regressed or stayed the same.

I still think we're going to be LOTS better than we've shown, so I'm going with 17-49.

Just once, I'd like to guess low and be pleasantly surprised to be wrong. I'm going to hang out with Zonker at 14 wins.
