Are we turning in to Jazz redux? Williams, Stevenson, Humphrey? For a vet one year signing, sure why not. It's not like we have this super deep bench. Deshawn is more of a SG though, so it will likely push Morrow to SF. But I guess, for the vet min and one year? Why not.

PG - Deron, Farmar
SG - Deshawn, Brooks
SF - Morrow, James
PF - Hump, Shawne Williams
C - Brook, Shelden

Or does Morrow/James remain in starting lineup with Brooks/Deshawn (at SF?) off the bench? I think Deshawn would be better off starting, since his best asset is his defense, and we can have him stick the premier SGs of the league.

Avery was talking about S Williams being our starting SF after he gets over his flu, so the likely lineup would be something like

D Will / Farmar / Gaines
Morrow / Deshawn / Brooks
S Williams / James
Hump / Shelden Williams / J Williams
Lopez / Petro

If you added AK47 to that lineup as SF we would have solid depth throughout with Shelden Williams playing backup centre as well as power forward.

I think this season depth will be more important than usual because of the condensed season and crazy schedule. I like that lineup purely from a short term standpoint of being still in the race for Howard, but if that ends up being our roster I'd be really please at King being able to keep the roster flexiable for Howard trades down the line.

^I agree with you. I like Morrow being back up wing player that comes 7th man off the bench.

cosign.

deshawn is a gritty dude. brings toughness that the nets desperately need on their roster. he's a pretty good defender too.

i would love to see him in a nets uni; especially for the vet minimum.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

Yeah, I'm all for signing him. That means Ime udoka nor Stephen Graham would see any minutes at all.

False. No matter the roster, Avery will always find minutes to give Stephen Graham.

For the vet min, why not? Good defender with a solid shot, and I see 4 positives from this signing:

1) Signing for the vet min keeps our flexibility for a mid-season trade and rarely does anything to our cap space.

2) Can help mentor Brooks

3) Gives extra depth at the wing position

4) Keeps Udoka and Graham away from the court

Win-Win

DeShawn is one of my favorite basketball players. He's a TRU entertainer.
