Rockets sign Dalembert to 2 year deal

Post#1 » by dream34 » Wed Dec 21, 2011 10:24 pm

At least we have a legit starting center. Good rebounder, good shot blocker, questionable offensive player. Overall, pretty underrated player. I think he will fit in well.

Not a big fan of this move. At some point we gotta let our young guys play.

i cant say how i feel about this until i see his contract. cant see the link cuz i dont have a scouting account. i dont mind having him on the team. all we need is a shot blocker/rebounder to get in the playoffs (at least i think so. i havent looked over teams' new rosters in this short offseason)

if hayes can still play in the nba and we're able to re-sign him, we'd have a good (not great) defensive frontcourt

We're never going to get a good pick. I had finally came to peace with playin hill and thabeet and tanking for a pick now were fringe playoffs again with dally and minus hayes

Now we're gonna make a blockbuster trade with all our young assets. Sound familiar?

the key is that were basically paying him for 4.2mil per year since the buyout next yr. is 1.5 mil....not a bad deal for the rockets.

lol sounds CRAZY familiar. Anyways this isn't a bad deal at all. I don't love the signing but I don't hate it. It's going to help us by getting the big man we need so we can see if we can compete but at the same time it's not going to kill our cap if the deal doesn't work out.

he has the prototypical size aand stats for a bbg - 6'11 250lbs ... 8/8/2 and decent ft% . and supposedly he IS a decent passer, but he never got much of a chance to use his "passing skills" . nice to know there' s a .00001% chance he can pass half as good as hayes

Without Dalembert, we still aren't tanking. Give it up guys, we are not getting a top lottery pick in this draft. The Rockets are making moves to rebuild WITHOUT even having a losing record, they are on record saying that. This signing solidifies our front court.

I don't mind the deal, was expecting we'd overpay him, and don't mind the player. He's an elite rebounder (his TRB% reflects that, big minutes has been his issue from proving that in terms of raw statistics). He's obviously a very good shot blocker, and an OK defender that at least has some size. But, like jwise, I had warmed up to the idea of Hill, and Thabust manning the center position, and maybe be in a situation where we could benefit from a higher pick.

What I'm afraid of is that we sign Dalembert, and he improves us, yes, but not enough to make us a playoff team, and we're stuck with the 14th pick again for the third consecutive year.

I think this deal was necessary. Although Jordan Hill and Thabeet are doing well thus far, we really can't really solely on those two players to man the center position. Thabeet averages like 8 fouls a game, so we really can't rely on him to be out on the court for long periods of time. That being said, he has had a good start this preseason so I hope he gets ~10 minutes a game or something.

Pretty good contract in my opinion.
I think this should be enough to get to the playoffs.

the thing is, his contract is so that we could probably trade him easily should another good deal come along....that goes with all our contracts really....even KMart and Scolas' contracts aren't that bad when you compare it some of the other ones around the league

Waiting for Stern to void this free agent signing in...

So who gets cut? Thabeet, Adrien or Lin?

We filled the hole at C at 7M per without giving up any assets and did not get locked up long-term. I was not a big proponent of Dally, but damn....we did good here!

Welcome to Houston, Dalembert!!! :D

Without him, we are right at the 9th seed again. With him, we should definitely be a playoff team. Unfortunately, that means our draft pick will be sent to the Nets.
