terrible rosters:

stickemup, hippos, kohanz

decent rosters:

alci, skai, ham, jfrost, sly, the man, apathy

good rosters:

invincibles

my competition:

floppy (how bad is everyone else to let this dude get 5 of the top 10 players in the game?), insfo, east

my window to compete is 3-4 years from now. the dude before me didnt give me much to work with but i've pulled off some amazing trades and now i just wait for the talent to coalesce and let my 1337 managing do its thang

the man shoulda traded his picks because his selections were awful. so were floppy/ham's

 I got a starting center and a point guard that dished out 8 assists in his first game as a pro after a shortened training camp.

There are a couple decent rookies still out there but they are a crap shoot. Hill and Cole will be solid. Cole should be starting by the end of the year.

this is a DYNASTY league bruh. the word of the day is upside. you picked two players with top 75 upside at their peaks. lol.

i'll bet you any amount of money up to 1k, giving you 2:1 odds, that jordan hill doesn't start half of his team's games this year

tbh i don't know **** about cole but i do know that chalmers is decent and, most importantly, that wade/james have extraordinary usage rates, making anyone aside from bosh on that team virtually worthless in any fantasy league

your goal is to win once in ten years. my goal is to win 10 years in a row.

Anderson is not an awful selection. I know how you feel about him because you dropped him, but without regard to potential, he had best value among the players available for this season w/ or w/o Howard in Orlando. Wasn't going to fish around on rookies at this point.

So history lesson on floppy's team. He didn't build it. He took over last season. As for why it' has 5 top 10 players, the guy who had it made a bunch of trades when he started with a bad team to secure some future 1st round draft picks some of which he flipped or used to draft talent. Also made one lopsided trade that scored him Pau and Wade for, get this, Calderon and Biedrins. We're pretty liberal when it comes to allowing trades. Though it was when Wade was injured and Pau mired in Memphis following Calderon and Biedrin's career years. I actually don't remember if that trading manager is still here or not. The team floppy inherited went from last place to consolation winner to champ if I recall.

More history, league started in 2005 with 12 teams. The team jfrost took over won in 2005. The following year, 1 team was dissolved and there were 3 expansion teams to make it 14. My team, the team Apathy took over, and I think the one tk has now were the expansion teams. Sly won that year 2006. My team won 2007 though only 3 players remain from that roster. 2008 the team floppy now has won. 2009 alcig's team won. 2010 east won which was also the first year he made the playoffs. As it is, no team has won more than once. I'm not sure who has had the most consistent roster but rosters change enough that the competition in 3-4 years could be anyone.

ty for that post ham, you seem like a chill guy

once you drafted anderson i realized he had more value than i realized but im not really in the position to be patient with a guy like him. he's not AWFUL in a vacuum but no decision is made in a vacuum imo.

anderson is much better sabermetrically than IRL because he's a terrible fit to any team IRL (meaning he's absurdly overextended in 30+ mpg and will therefore never get 30+ mpg barring a miracle)

lol @ the man talking like he's ever won this league and ever will

I have to say, I didn't care for the man's draft picks either. And now that Dally has signed with Houston, Hill really doesn't look as good, but even before the Dally signing, Hill was no starting C even if he had to be by default. I think Cole has potential to supplant Chalmers eventually but his upside is limited by the superfriends.

The history Ham failed to mention is we have only been out of the playoff one season. That was with KG and two other primary contributors on the IL. Prior to that we were the only team not to make the playoffs.

I appreciate your concern, but we will be fine.

At the time I made the pick Dalembert was rumored to be returning to Sacramento. But he is still young, athletic and has "upside" (he's only 24).

I don't need Cole to score, just dish out dimes, and hit open threes, pretty much the same thing Miami needs him to do.

Hasn't the Invincibles (or whatever name prior) been in the playoffs every season?

FYI, I inherited this team. It also had Jeff Green and Brandon Roy before their value plummeted. I don't get any credit for it.

Missed playoffs in 2008.

Los Invincibles also holds most records regarding overall wins, wins in a season, winning percentage and number of times choking away a championship.

1. tk Kyrie Irving - #1 pick in the real draft and here. No surprise.

2. insfo Derrick Williams (#2) same as above. Went where expected.

3. sly (from stick) Jonas Valanciunas (#5) First surprise. Could turn out to be very good but since he won't play this season probably could have been waited on. Of course, Sly is rebuilding so what does he care? To be honest I was hoping he'd fall to me so I was quite surprised.

4. kohanz Kemba Walker (#9) I think another surprise. There are a lot of mixed opinions with how good Kemba can be. Most think he will be good.

5. sly Enes Kanter (#3) Sly goes for another foriegn center but this one will play this year. I'm surprised he lasted this long. I'd have thought Sly would take Kanter at three and Jonas at five but in the end it doesn't matter.

6. skai Brandon Knight (#8) A lot of people were trying to move up to get him. Why did he last this long?

7. apathy (from alcig) Tristan Thompson (#4) When compared with the NBA draft this pick shows great value. But Thompson's strengths are related to defense which does not translate well to fantasy.

8. hamncheese Ryan Anderson (NA) A veteran team picks a veteran player. A big man that shoots threes. Safe pick.

9. sly (from Setterlund) Jan Vesely (#6) Sly must have been doing back flips. A tall athletic wings falls to nine. And the cherry on top, he's a foreigner.

10. floppy Jimmer Fredette (#10) I hated Fredette in the NBA draft. But his first preseason game was impressive. Maybe he pans out. I have warmed to Fredette. I think he will be one of the Raja Bell (used to be) type players. No where near a super star but puts up numbers that seem to work in fantasy.

11. stick (from apathy) Bismack Biyombo (#7) Super athletic super raw big man. Could proved blocks, maybe rebounds and little else. I must admit, if stick didn't I would have rolled the dice. That said, Charlotte buying out is Spanish team diminished his appeal to me. Had he stayed over seas he could have developed and come offer more polished. Now every game will be a reminder of how raw he is. There will be that constant nagging feeling that perhaps he should be dropped.

12. theman (from Knicks) Jordan Hill (NA) Athletic third year big man. Penciled in as the starting center until Dalembert was signed. Sometimes picks for need bite you.

13. theman Norris Cole (#28) Biggest reach so far. Based soley on one preseason game and some positive words coming out of training camp. It was a pick for need that also has growth potential.

14. east Klay Thompson (#11) good shooting no defense swing man. Should fit in with GSW but where are the minutes going to come from?

I've been impressed with what I've seen (says the Warrior fan watching NBA TV preseason games from Florida) even though his shots weren't falling. He's a smart player. I liked him enough to take him in the FFL draft. But, as you say, the staff loves him and he'll get playing time.

No one's been doing predictions, so I'l start. East will be the first two-time champion in this league. I peg him for the title again. Floppy in 2nd, Invincibles 3rd. The rest of the playoff teams are mine, AlciG, and either the Man or Kohanz. Lots of rebuilds going on.

I am a GS fan and watched Klay carefully. I took Jimmer over him, and I hated Jimmer.

Klay has the higher upside. But I think Jimmer has Klay crushed in the mental department, so that's the way I went.

not sure why everyone is stressing over these draft picks. Half of those picked after say the 5th round will be on WW within a month. Book it.

Waiver priorities were also set, with the 1st-place team (east) getting top priority, to the last place team (tk) getting no priority.

All good?

Hey Sly, can you add Brandon Knight to my roster? I dropped Jonny Flynn for him.

In case this got lost because of the many subsequent posts.
