Debating whether trading Roy was best or not is irrelevant... he wanted out anyway. The truth is that even if Drabek and Gose don't pan out, that the fact we have potentially an all-star calibre catcher, with years of control, is still a win in my books.

The Phillies were always going to win the Halladay trade, that has never been much of a question. We were trading the best pitcher of our generation for three question mark prospects. AA did the best he could with the difficult situation as it was, though. The only thing Rogers could have done to make Doc stay was spend more on the rest of the team and try to win and they weren't prepared to do that. Because of that, the only option was to trade him. No point in dwelling on it now.
