Pleathera of outfielders available next season

Post#1 » by ATL Boy » Fri Dec 23, 2011 1:42 am

I know that we haven't even gotten through this offseason yet but I saw the Free agent class that would be available next season and I must say when it comes to outfielders it's almost as super powered as the 2010 NBA Draft class (OK I may have over exaggerated just a bit, that was one powerful free agent class). If they're not resigned Next years free agent class of outfielders include Josh Hamilton, Shane Victorino, BJ Upton, Nick Swisher, Carlos Quentin, Andre Ethier, and Michael Bourn. Also the Braves will have around 40 million dollars to spend next offseason :D so which superstar outfielder would you go after, or would you not want to go after anyone and choose to resign Bourn instead? I personally want Josh Hamilton on this team; the man is a beast, he was the AL MVP last season and is just hands down one of the best players in the game right now. I believe that with Hamilton on this team we would WIN the World Series.

I can't envision a scenario where the Rangers don't re-sign Hamilton, but that would be pretty great to see him in a Braves uniform.

I think the Braves will re-sign Bourn if he has a good season this year.

I want to keep Bourn if he has a .300 BA 50 RBI's 50 Steals type of season. You don't just find Gold Glove starting CF easily.

It is hard to argue against Hamilton but he is a lefty and we are a little lefty heavy as constructed. Swisher can switch hit some his bat does not bother me as much as Hamilton. He will also come cheaper than Hamilton so I would take him over Hamilton but I would rather have Quentin over either one considering he gives you a HR about once every 5 games played for his career just like Hamilton and Swisher and he is a right handed bat.

Bourn CF
Quentin LF
Heyward RF

That would balance things out a little more. Quentin plays RF now but hopefully he has the ability to play left. Hell in high school I played RF and LF. We all grow up playing multiple positions then they get up here and excuses start to come. It's never comfortable making transitions but atleast they get paid to do it.

I understand your reasoning but it all depends on the money with Bourn because the Infamous Scott Boras is his agent; and for me if he demands anything more than 3 years then let him walk because everything Bourn does revolves around his speed and he's going to get slower at this stage of his career . And if Bourn does have that kind of year then he might cost more than Josh because again Boras is his agent.

Can probably forget about Quentin doubt if San Diego traded for him only to let him go this offseason. He was my favorite of group
