Sick of giving up our players for nothing

I am so sick of this team giving up talent to save money. What was the purpose of the lockout. Level the playing field was a huge LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Jazz save $10 million dollars...... If anything, we should have sent additional stuff to the Nets......

I know money means something to the team, but I would think holding out for something of value might give fans a reason to go to games.

So does a future 2nd round pick inspire you to think Utah will be better this year or ever?

New Jersey was desperate, I am sure you could of at least got a first round pick out of them.

Some team out their would of gave us more than a 2nd round pick for Okur.

I think Oconner decides to make a trade, calls the last team he dealt with, (mabey the only other teams phone number he can remember) Offers a player and accepts whatever they offer, and goes home and works on the spin about how this trade makes us better.

Wow, some people don't get it.

Memo wasn't going to get much playing time in Utah and whatever he got was going to cost $10.8 mil.

The Jazz just got a hugely valuable trade exception, no to mention a large amount of cap room.

Memo will now get a lot of playing time in a contract year. If he does well, he'll get more years at big money. In Utah, that would not have happened, and he wouldn't have played much which would have hurt his value to other teams.

We also got a 10 million dollar TPE in the trade. Last year we turned a similar TPE into Al Jefferson.

Essentially we traded Memo for a player to be named later. No reason to be upset with this trade, memo was likely a >20 minute a night player that would have left for nothing in the off season anyways, or retired.

By the way, a year from now when teams are starting to really they to get under the cap to avoid the huge cap penalties the new CBA enforces, this TPE is going to basically double in value. Cap space is going to be at a premium.

This move actually gives me more hope than it would have otherwise, due to the trade flexibility we now have. Okur wasn't going to see much time or bring us many (if any) more wins, whereas now we could potentially make a move that improves our win total by 5-10 games.

I think that it was a smart move, the cap space is a valuable asset (I don't believe we get a TPE, but I may be wrong).

Actually the Lockout was for the money. If its purely a money move then its right up that alley.

With that said a trade exception can get some quality pieces like many others have already mentioned but only if they decide to use it. We need to wait and see if it does help us net another player by sending a player to the nets or if it is just a money move.

I am sad to see him leave but I understand it on both sides for the money or to get someone with the trade exception.

Who would you compare Wilson Chandler to...? He's a pretty unique player. I would say he's probably comparable to Lamar Odom. He does a bit of everything.

Any time a team makes a trade where they send out more salary than they get back, then get a TPE. It's automatic and is like a coupon to be used at a later date to even out the previous deal.

In this case, since nothing came back, the coupon is worth Memo's full $10.89 mil contract - which can bring back a lot of talent, and if you don't want to use it during this season - you can use it next summer.

All these posts sum it up.

Okur is an older player who is questionable coming off a bad injury and has no place on a rebuilding team either way.

He costs your team money, provides nothing thats needed on the court and clogs minutes for the young guys.

If your FO is smart Al Jeff is next.

Interesting to read from Locke that with the trade exception now you can take the $10.8 exception, add Raja's $3.2 and take that $14M and pick up a player like:

Andre Iguodala

Who is the only player beside Lebron with 15/7/7, and is a lock down defender. I would love to see this.. and I think their will come a time for Philly to do the same so that they can let Turner grow.

Do it now and we improve dramatically. He has 3 years left which is perfect for when Hayward and others are up for their extensions.
