Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 3
Has anyone watched any Thomas Robinson game action?
DX has him listed at 6th overall and nbadraft has him at 8th. He's the only top 10 player I haven't watched at all.
I'm going to have to check out the next Kansas game.
All I can see is that he's the best defensive rebounder per minute in NCAA for 2 straight seasons and he's efficient offensively. He measured 6'10" 240 at the Dwight Howard camp this offseason so he has prototypical size and he has a nice frame & is pretty chiseled.

I like Robinson's game. He is powerful, athletic and aggressive. He will definitely benefit from the spacing of the NBA game and I think could be a 16 & 10 guy in the league at some point.

I'm surprised at that measurement. It must have been in stilettos, because DX has it right at 6'8". He plays very hard and is an athletic power player, but he's just a bit undersized for the 4.

those who want quincy miller and PJ 3 need to realize that they are the kind of guys that will leave Toronto at the first opportunity they have..i don`t want to lose a year of my life and cheer for us to lose so we could draft a player that will not want to be here for many years..a guy like Barnes would have no problem playing his entire career here, and i think Anthony Davis is like him...don`t know to much about Drummond`s character

Lets assume your crystal ball is right (your using one right, if not then your opinion means jack on this matter), great he is willing to stay with us, he now falls under the same category as Jose and Andrea "players that overstay their welcome". What we want are great players to stay, we don't care all that much about mediocre to below average players.
I really don't want to lose a year of my life for a younger version of klieza

Wasn't Perry Jones the guy that said he'd be really disappointed if the Raptors drafted him? I'm sure there was a thread about it here on RealGM..,

I see a lot of posters rooting for us to take PJIII. Are you guys then suggesting we trade one or two of Bargs/Ed/Amir? I strongly doubt he can keep up with this league's small forwards.

Yeah he did. He later said that that was a misunderstanding, though, and that he'd welcome playing for us.

If it comes down to it yes. Trade Bargnani for a pick + bad contract and take Kabongo. Move Ed + unprotected pick next year for one of the wings. (All hypothetically of course.) We're still missing a centerpiece, so we've got to take BPA.
Kabongo/Bayless
DD/Weems/Bayless
Miller(/MKG)/JJ
PJ3/Amir
Val/Amir

Not that I don't believe you, I just don't remember it. Can you please provide me with a link to where he said it was a misunderstanding because I'd LOVE to re-include him into my draft board for the Raps.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 3
Here's my breakdown,
Future Stars:
Perry Jones - Very inconsistent, but when he's on he's the most dominant player in college ball.
Brad Beal - Reminds me of Eric Gordon coming out of college, doesn't fit what the Raps need but is definitely an upgrade over Derozan.
Thomas Robinson - Why he wasn't playing much the last two years confuses me because this guy is way better than any Jayhawk I've seen the last couple drafts.
Barnes - He can shoot as good as anybody you'll see come out of a draft. This guy is a GAMER and NEEDS to be the Raptors pick.
Sullinger - He's a tweener and doesn't have any place on the Raptors, but will be a starting NBA forward.
Jeremy Lamb - He's a gamer in College, but I think he needs to get his team involved more and is taking way too many shots now.
MKG - The best freshman from a big time team. A very balanced game, but doesn't have the shot Barnes does.
Over hyped:
Drummond - I don't get it, he's not a special C prospect at all. He's slow on the court, takes way too many weak shots and isn't even that great of a rebounder, size considered.
Davis - I see every reason for optimism, but NBA superstars show why they are what they are in college, and Davis is a terrific rebounder, but isn't involved nearly enough offensively on his team.
Haven't seen any of the obscure schools like Washington, Illinois, etc.. So many other players that I'm sure should be included.

If Austin can move to PG and score 20 ppg unselfishly and drop about 6 dimes that would be a Raptors dream come true. He is a poor man`s Derrick Rose. He has the best handles in the draft, elite athleticism, size at PG, top 5 shooter and he has a killer instinct which the raptors lack.
Austin Rivers is not a poor man's Derrick Rose. While Rivers' athleticism is good, it's not elite. He's got excellent body control, change of direction, and lateral quickness, but he's not on the level of a Derrick Rose or Dwyane Wade who are crazy explosive off the ground and can jump out of the gym. Rivers' one-on-one ball skills is nice, but he's such a blackhole who takes shots whenever he wants and can't pass the rock. Averaging 2.3 assists per game is unacceptable with the ball in your hands that much. He's a bonafide 6th Man in the mold of O.J. Mayo, Jamal Crawford and Monta Ellis.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

It was a misunderstanding because he doesn't like customs.

Yeah, I realize that since he said it during his answer. I just want the link where he ended the questionability about his desire to play for us.

I'm switching my vote for now from MKG to Andre Drummond (I still like MKG), but Drummond is a game changer... can you imagine Val & Drummond? That's pretty nice group of big men.

I just think we need some kinda low post scoring if we are going to expend all this energy on the defensive end. If Drummond can be that guy then it will make our job on the offensive end that much easier.

exactly, he's not slow by any mean on the perimeter, he can bother his defender in the perimeter from using his length and he's shown he's capable of guarding the perimeter, its all about footwork when it comes to defense anyways.
