Whose next?

Post#1 » by wbbfan » Fri Dec 23, 2011 7:43 pm

The jay's rumor mill will never be running low as long as AA is running this team. So with darvish, beltran, and gio all off the market who do you want/think the main target will be?
Im thinking roy oswalt. A medium price 1 year deal were he can rebuild his value and we could possible get a draft pick next off season is a very AA esq move.

The CBA changed, it doesn't work the same anymore. AA's drafting/building strategy has been ruined, and he'll need to be "creative" to accomplish what he was hoping to before.

As for who's next....does it really matter at this point? Whoever we sign (sans Prince) is going to be a disappointment to the fan base after the off-season thus far.

As for who's next, I'd venture to say a PR coach for AA.

Prince fielder wouldnt make this team a play off team, but a top of the order pitcher and shoring up our rotation would.
I guess i should have expected wait for fair weather to be the answer.

We need Fielder and more, because we have loads of competition...3 division winners...and then you have both second place teams from the east and west trying to lock up the 2 wild card spots..honestly if we're not gonna build around Bautista we should look to get what we can from him after this season is over... hopefully he has a good one, but with Lind protecting him hes gonna get walked a hell of a lot this season....so who know, but AA is going work and we still got a long way to go until spring training

We dont have it easy, but the rays havent needed to go after fielder or make those types of moves and we do have bautista. Lind is a real question mark, if he can re gain his pre injury production and sustain it we arent in bad shape. But thats a considerable question. Our pitching will again be what makes or breaks us this year, and while i expect us to get some good proven vets in to round out our rotation and bull pen abit I also expect we will be giving fair chances to our good young players to improve and become the players we need.

The Rays have a better team than us. They have a decent chance at winning the division. We don't.

this....like I said in another thread we can't be the rays because they have accumulated literally 9+ years of premium talent from the draft

For the right price, I wouldn't mind Kerry Wood.

Nobody significant Rogers will sit on their money and our season will be similar to last with the development of the younger players.

Really? Who cares if he has upset people. I want him to do his job the best way he knows how.
Do you not realize that his own standards for operating in a job that he does pretty damn well, may not comply with your wishes?

That and the fact they have been EXTREMELY lucky with their player development. Realistically prospects from the first two rounds have a 33% chance of developing into an everyday MLB player and it slides for later players after that. They have bucked the average for a while, but it likely won't stay that way. Eventually when they make these trades of one good MLB player for two prospects, that they have been doing for a while (Kazmir, Garza for example), the players they get back will not pan out as the math will turn against them.

Also keeping guys for only their controllable years can be a bit of a piss off to the PA and Agents.
