With Lopez hurt, any chance that Deron comes back?
It will be difficult for the Nets to retain Williams since trading Lopez for Howard doesn't look so attractive to Orlando now. What business would Williams have with the Nets?
They could use their amnesty on Harris to free up cap space, for a total of $19.5M of free cap space. We could easily sign Williams for MAX money.
Jefferson/Kanter
Favors/Millsap/Evans
Hayward/Miles
Burks
Williams/Watson
That would be a hell of a team IMO.

No.
However, there is a better chance of him re-signing in Utah than New Jersey now.

Its possible if the Jazz offer the most money other than the Nets and the Jazz have a team this year that made a decent playoff run. But if the Jazz made a decent playoff run this year with their current team would they want to pay Dwill to come back.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I'm too lazy to come up with clever pictures, but this post needed a two word response.

No, he was right. That's crazy talk. Zero chance of him signing with the Jazz. Nada. None. His pride won't allow it (and neither would most other stars').

Seriously guys? That's the whole point

There is practically no chance he re-signs with the Nets now that Lopez is out. Not only does it take down their 2nd best player for the season but it also puts them out of the Howard sweepstakes unless a third and/or fourth team swoops in a bails them out.

Re: With Lopez hurt, any chance that Deron comes back?
What's the whole point? There's clearly more of a chance that he'll sign with New Jersey. Before Lopez's injury, he said "there's a 90 percent chance I'll re-sign with New Jersey." He's also been much happier with the Nets front office; Avery and King consult him on everything down to the color scheme of the locker room.
If they don't pick up Howard via trade, there's still a chance the Nets could get him next summer. And regardless, they'll have a ton of cap space to sign other free agents, and can guarantee Deron the most money on his next contract.
Given all of that, you don't really have a point.

The chances the Jazz have are lower than the Lakers and higher than the Bucks.

KOC should not not be in contact with the agent. Deron still likes us and likes the places he knew in the valley. From a realistic point its just not likely. Players dont actually pick towns based on likes. Places with a ton of exposure increase the value of local commercials and make you desirable for national TV when retired.

Would you care to actually respond to any of that instead of going the route of "evasive ridicule?"

I've already tried to explain it to you but I can try to hold your hand and walk you through it again if you'd really like me to...
New Jersey has no/extremely little hope of re-signing D-Will now that Lopez is out. His injury not only kills them for this season but it takes them out of the Dwight Howard sweepstakes. Why? Because Orlando isn't going to be interested in trading for a subpar C who's already having injury issues (especially a foot injury). The offer NJ was making for Howard was already laughable but now that Lopez is damaged goods, it should effectively kill it.
Ya, Deron said there was a 90% chance that he'd re-sign with them but as you kindly pointed out, that was before the Lopez injury. The injury changes the entire dynamic of the team and their available options moving forward. And what else was he going to say at the time??? It's not like he was going to come out and say that's he's leaving and looking to sign with Dallas. Remember that he said similar things about the Jazz but now that he's gone he admitted to looking at other places to sign.
I also seriously doubt that he's "much happier" with the Nets FO. Sure, they consult him on a few things (as they should) but what have they done to improve the team? Trade for Memo and re-sign K-Humps to a one year? I'm sure D-Will is just thrilled about those championship building moves.
My whole point is this: Now that Lopez is down and out, the Nets are very limited in what they will be able to do in regards to keeping D-Will in NJ. I have a hard time seeing any team out there taking a deal centered around an injured Brook Lopez which will send Howard or another similar star back to the Nets. They didn't sign any big names in FA and they won't be landing a star player via trade this year... so how is there "clearly more of a chance" that D-Will will sign with Nets than the Jazz???? If you take Derons' ego out of the equation, the Jazz are clearly in a better spot to sign him than the Nets are at this point in time. Add his ego back into the equation and both teams are on fairly equal ground.
Now, given all of that... does that now make more sense to you?

While I agree that the injury to Lopez probably makes it less likely for Orlando to trade with the Nets unless they add say, Morrow, I still kind of wonder if Deron is willing to give up about $25 Million in guaranteed money by walking away from the Nets.
I just think he cares a lot about money. I think he went to Turkey for the money and I just don't think that when he is 32 years old, that he will be able to command a max contract, will he?
I agree that the Jazz team are way more appealing right now if they lose out on Dwight and him coming here is possible.
But do you think he is willing to give up that much money by walking?

Re: With Lopez hurt, any chance that Deron comes back?
I honestly believe that he's willing to do it. It's like asking if CP3 would have walked away from New Orleans; I think it's safe to say that we all knew that he would have left that team after this year despite losing out on a good chunk of money. Another question would have been: Would Deron have walked on the Jazz had they not traded him? I know some things differ from the situation he's in now with NJ (such as market size) but I think the overall concept is the same. He would have walked and left the money on the table unless the Jazz made some moves to put us into championship contention.JazzD15 wrote:While I agree that the injury to Lopez probably makes it less likely for Orlando to trade with the Nets unless they add say, Morrow, I still kind of wonder if Deron is willing to give up about $25 Million in guaranteed money by walking away from the Nets.

I'll concede that there is a small possibility of Deron staying just for the money but I have a really hard time seeing him doing it unless the team shows some sort of promise. Had the Nets landed Nene and/or Chandler then I think it could have been a real/better possibility but with the way the team is setup right now... they're not moving towards contending anytime soon.

Jerry wasn't the only person in the Jazz organization that had a problem with Deron. So I don't think so.
