I'm of the opinion that a first round bye is not necessarily a good thing. I would prefer to stay sharp and keep momentum rolling forward. Plus you'll be playing a team coming off a playoff win. Even though it's going to be at home, it means you're playing a good team with confidence.
Thought?

Would you want a first round bye?
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Of course. You should have confidence as well. You got a first round bye. Also gives your guys time to rest and get healthier.
The problem comes when you rest week 16 and 17 and then get a bye. Then all of a sudden you haven't played a legit game in a month and anything can happen.

Absolutely for the Niners. That's a difference of playing (potentially) the Saints in a dome or at home. No thanks.

To get to the Conference championship would I rather:
A: Win one game at home
B: Win one game at home, and then one game on the road
C: Win two games on the road
I'll take option A.

Saints would destroy the niners at the superdome. I don't think it would even be close. The niners could win in San Fran though.

I want you guys to win out (unless the packers lose out) so the saints have to face you in San Fran. I am a lot more comfortable facing the niners than the saints as a packers fan.

Saints and Packers would be a shoot out. Niners might not be able to keep up with them in scoring, but they can keep their offenses off the field as much as possible.

Good point.
A first-round bye is really important for the ravens. They can rest some guys that are banged up and they get home-field advantage against the Steelers or whoever they'll play.
