Game -15 San Diego @ Detroit 4;05 kickoff

Post#1 » by kellmellus50 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 11:18 pm

Detroit can clinch a postseason berth.
They are:
* Chicago loss or tie plus Arizona loss or tie plus Seattle loss or tie plus Dallas loss or tie;
* Chicago loss or tie plus Arizona loss or tie plus Seattle loss or tie plus N.Y. Giants loss or tie;
* Chicago loss or tie plus Arizona loss or tie plus

This is going to be a close game going back and fourth with Detroit winning 35-33 .
Detroit needs to pass to the RB coming out of the back field all day long ,who cares about the running game anymore just pass the football !!!

P.s. start Afonzo Smith instead of Houston.

We'll need all our CB's against SD.

Thier offense scaresme a little. Rivers, VJax, Floyd, Gates, Mathews, Tolbert....

But their defense does not scare me.

Could be another 45-39 type game, not sure which way it might go though.

Rivers has simular stats to staford in passing ,S.D, scored 34,37 ,38 last 3 weeks and eariler this season lost to G.B. 35-45 so yes the winner of this game may have to score 40 + points.

lions better have an extra DB on roster this week incase they get injured you don't want davis back there anymore.

The Chargers are very hot, and a regular-season mark of 20-2 in the months of December and January under coach Norv Turner

Matt Stafford has been money against the AFC West. I think he will continue that and the Lions somehow win. Avoid the dumbass penalties and keep the turnover battle even or better.

When's the last time the Lions swept a division? :o

Win and we're in..... that's all our team should be thinking. Take care of business and give Detroit an early Christmas present. :D

Huge game for the team and the city. Probably the biggest game Ford Field has ever seen. The crowd will be crazy and the points will be trending upwards.

This is a chance to show how serious a team we are. Let's get it done

Stafford looks great early. Stefan Logan, not so much. Who the hell calls fair catch at the 5? And then he muffs it.

Cunningham blitzing on 3rd and 12?

All rivers had to do was find all his 6' 8" wide outs.

i have a bad feeling about this.

i prefer'd the Lions being down and coming back rather than being up and letting them comeback

Playoffs man. How cool is that? Lots of highs and lows this season, but making the playoffs is truly an accomplishment.

And Stafford is going to be elite in a few years. He is so good already

If Green Bay wins Sunday against Chicago, they clinch home-field advantage in the NFC the No. 1 seed.

If New Orleans loses Monday against Atlanta, San Francisco clinches first-round bye.

If New Orleans wins Monday, Saints clinch NFC South.

If Chicago loses Sunday, Atlanta clinches a wild card

Lions are going to get either the Saints or the winner of DAL/NYG, depending on what happens to ATL. I'll take it. Playoffs!

Stafford vs. AFC West:
102-for-157 (65%), 1325 yards, 8.4 yards per attempt, 14 TDs, 1 INT, 20 completions of over 20 yards.

Lions won those games 48-3, 45-10, 28-27, and 38-10.

Man, the DAL/NYG winner sure would be a TON nicer than getting the Saints in NO.

What has to happen? Saints have to win, I'm assuming?

Um the Dal/NYG winner is way more friendly to us, lets hope that happens! But in our defense we did give the Saints all they could handle for quite a bit of the game there a few weeks back. It isn't impossible to consider taking them down

Still, what a season. Wow

So... is there still a chance we could host a playoff game?

If we beat Green Bay and finish 11-5 we could possibly have the 3rd or 4th best record in the conference... But can a Wild Card team host a division winner or do the division winners automatically get the home game?

I'm almost positive that the division winners get automatic home games. Our only chance for a home game would be to be the 5 seed WC and face the 6 seed WC in the NFC Championship

Sadly I don't foresee home playoff games (this year)

You're right I did some research and the higher seed (division winner) gets to host even if the wild card teams have a better record.

On a side note,

These were the previous NFL records for most passing yards in a single season.

1. Dan Marino 5,084
2. Drew Brees 5,069
3. Kurt Warner 4,830

Right now Stafford has 4,518 yards so he is a 313 yard passing game against a bad Green Bay pass defense from having what would have been the 3rd most passing yards by a QB all-time... He would have been a serious MVP candidate if it wasn't for Brees, Rogers, and even Tom Brady having ridiculous seasons this year.

There is a good chance that 5 QBs this season will be in the top 7 all-time joining Mario and Brees which is just INSANE to think about. Pass defense getting worse or QBs and offenses are getting better/smarter.
