we've seen turnover of the following players IIRC:

Boozer
Brewer
Korver
Williams
Okur
Fesenko

I don't ever remember so many of our core guys changing so quickly, not to mention Jerry's departure. It's a brave new world in Jazz nation since Larry died...

Kevin O'Connor is the one calling the shots now and sad to say is the face of our franchise. He is a good GM but we need a superstar and hope we can land one with the TPE and other assets accrued.

From going 20 + years with minor changes here and there to what we have experienced in the last 18 months I am still shell shocked.

Actually, I like it. Jerry Sloan always had WAY too much input in personnel. KOC is cleaning house and bringing in guys who are more than just tough 2nd rounders. He's getting guys with genuine basketball pedigrees. In the long run, I think that will mean a better Jazz team.

Don't forget that KOC was the one who moved D-Will for Favors AND Kanter, not to mention Harris and the GSW pick. KOC is doing this the right way. I don't see why that is sad. Sad would be being in New Orleans shoes.

Isn't that what KOC is trying to do by bringing in Favors and who knows what else will happen?

I'm gonna say Millsap looks more like the face of the franchise than KOC, but that could be just me.

Why don't you ask other teams' fans? Surely it must be easier for them to point out one person or two who really represent the Jazz since they don't think about the team pretty much every day >_>

I think most people would probably say Millsap. Can't think of a lot of people whose minds go immediately to a GM, and there's nothing special about this case.

The players are always the face of the franchise. We just happen to have a bunch of new ones.

I would agree that most people probably identify us with Millsap, and perhaps Jefferson also.

I think we have to move to improve.

We have a good team, but it was pretty expensive and we couldn't compete vs Lakers.
Boozer left, Korver was expensive altough he was pretty good. Brewer was not the answer at SG altough he is better than Raja. Matthews... I think it's a mistake, he was a real deal.
Okur better years are left, and with him Kanter, Millsap and Favors were to suffer less minutes. I think Evans will play a lot more without him.
And Williams can't afford not to have those guys around.

So, it's time to search a new supestar (maybe we have one in the young players) and move on.

I'd much rather a GM as the face of a franchise, if that were possible. Look around the league. How many teams have respectable players as the face of the franchise. They all demand trades, moves, and ACT like a GM. Why not have actually be your GM? At least KOC won't demand a trade to the Lakers.

I would prefer the team (not a player) be the face of the franchise. The Real Salt Lake model. It is cheesy but I do agree with it. It is also the way that the NFL goes about it to.

Well the NBA is setup for stars to be the face of a franchise. That is what Stern setup in the 80's. Why do you think that the superstar makes up to 30% or a teams payroll? Why do you think they get special treatment with the refs? Having a star player be the face of the franchise is what NBA thinks sells so I highly doubt we see the Real Salt Lake Model go anywhere in the NBA.

I don't know, this "face of the franchise" thing is a lot more adapted to basketball than to soccer. Both are team sports, but 5 <<< 11. It's only natural that individual talents are more valued in smaller teams. Even world class soccer players could never put an average team on their backs, like we've seen so many times in basketball.
