Got any more information? Like the background of the conversation, what else he said, what everyone else said?

He did, just found it. No video though. But to put in perspective, he also picked the Nets and Kings to make the playoffs. Still trying to find some concrete stuff from him, but if you type "kenny smith bobcats playoffs" in google you can definitely see he at least talked about it.

I would just like to know if he gave reason for why he said it? For someone that watched it and saw him say it, please help fill us in!

this is never going to happen. even if we step up defensively once again, our offense is soooooo bad, probably the worst in Bobcats history.

I don't even think our defense is going to be any good this season. Actually I think our D will be worse than our offense.

our front line is god awful. Diaw starting at Center!!!!!!!! that says it all. Unless Kemba and Bismack figure it out FAST we aren't sniffing the playoffs this year. Also have a question mark at SG with Hendo. Will he break out this year? Will he regress?? Did I mention we are starting Diaw at Center.

Maybe by Charlotte he meant the Hornets and thought they still were in the league. He can't surely know our roster and think that we can make the playoffs.

Ummm, we are not making the playoffs. We better not make the playoffs either. I'm expecting a full on tank season here to get us that high lotto pick to build on. Don't F this up guys!

lets say we did make the playoffs.. would it be the end of the world? Lets say we did, and Kemba Walker became a potential superstar, don't you think dwight howard would notice that? he said that he wanted to go somewhere with a young team that he could lay a foundation with a good front office and could compete for a nba championship one day, granted we would lose our 2012 draft pick, but if dwight howard came here it would be worth it, and we would still have TWO 2013 picks next year. If we did make the playoffs no doubt the league would be abuzz and our young talent would be highly regarded then it ever has, I could see it happening... with a core of Kemba/Hendo/Mags/TT/Bismack/Dwight going foward I like our chances to become a contender.

I think Kenny is off in his assessment, but anything can happen in a shortened season. Still, I think we will lose to most teams clearly better than us, and a few to the porr teams as well. In time teams will begin to understand our strengths and weaknesses, design defensive strategies and assignments to neutralize key players, and we'll struggle accordingly. That's not being a glass half full, it's just what happens in this league.

My positives for the season: Kemba will be exciting to watch develop! He needs to shoot better, but he certainly has the ability to be a special player. If Hendo can maintain and grow from what we saw in the first game he could be a legit starter. DJ played pretty well, which I hope translates into a nice trade later in the season. He and Kemba cannot co-exist over time. Looking forward to Reggie Williams return to action, although his performances will mostly be a warm-up for next year.

Initial concerns: Bismack is so raw that he may not be able to contribute much until year 3. I know it is VERY early, but Silas playing him mostly at PF will be more challenging for him. I fear Tyrus will never equal his "potential" and is more likely to be part of a trade package than a part of our long term solution. DJW is good but not a starter; other than him our bench is shallow.

So I look forward to competitive, scrappy basketball, youth development, and a high draft pick. It will be a more fun season than watching vets strain to get us barely into the playoffs.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Whoops, I guess he was right.

Nah, I think Kenny is just a blatant UNC homer, did no research on that list b/c he knows they're worthless anyway, and just threw Charlotte in there b/c of MJ.

Worse thing in the world no, but pretty bad yes. Dwight has already made known his list of teams. We were not on it. We do not want Kemba to be our superstar. We want him to be our complimentary star. We need to draft a monster talent this summer. Then use our capspace to keep him and the talent we build aound him. As far as the two picks in 13 would be concerned I would trade them both to get back into the lottery of this monster draft coming in June. Unfortunately we wouldn't even be able to do that. Making the playoffs this summer is not an option.
